Not able to record in 24-bit in Sonar

Hey everyone,

I've been running Sonar 6PE for a while now. I've always used XP x86 SP1 with my MOTU 828mkII and never had a problem.

My system was running a bit slow, so I decided to re-format and start from scratch. I also decided to try a new OS, Vista x64, being that I have a 64-bit capable system.

So I installed everything and now Sonar won't record in 24-bits. It reproduces all my previous 24/96 recordings, but any new files will be 16/96 despite my selecting 24-bits in the Audio settings.

I then tried re-formatting and using Vista x86 and I got the same issue. I'd like to avoid trying XP SP1 again as formatting takes a lot of time.

Any ides?

    What does it say in the OPTIONS> GLOBAL OPTIONS DIALOG>. There's a dialog that let's you select your RENDER/RECORD/IMPORT bit depths. Is it possible they were changed to 16-bit?

    THANK YOU! That was it! I'm embarassed of having asked that, but I don't recall ever needing to change that configuration.

    Geokauf: I'll look into those. Considering how often I go through this, it's pretty silly that I don't have either software.

    I think it always goes back to 16 on an install. I've always had to change it there with each new version.
