Not understanding integration between Event Filter, Event List and Piano Roll
I'm learning to use these tools in the process of removing short-duration artifacts from MIDI tracks, and am mystified by a couple of things:
- Event Filter: whatever parameters I specify in the Event Filter tool, it doesn't seem to have any effect on what appears in the Event List. How does one use the Event Filter tool? It doesn't display any actual data, so I assume that creating a filter must act on some other display like the Event List and/or the Piano Roll view, but i see no such behavior.
- If I delete an event from the Event List, it disappears from the Piano Roll view, and that's great, but to use these tools together, first you have to ensure that you're displaying the same MIDI tracks in both windows - if you change one, it doesn't change the other, so you have to change them both to keep them in sync. Is there any way to make them automatically stay in sync?
- I just finished manually deleting a few hundred short-duration artifacts from 6 MIDI tracks (produced by a MIDI guitar interface) using the Event List. Is there any way to automate this procedure based on note duration (e.g., delete all notes of less that 100 milliseconds)? I was hoping to use the Event Filter to do this in one simple step, but can't figure out how to use the thing...
I've consulted the on-line help and my usually dependable SONAR X1 Power!, but no lightbulb.
