Note indicators in drum map....

I have my drum tracks using Superior Drummer 2.0 in view in the PRV.  I have the right drum map chosen and the drum names correspond to the right drums in the note pane on the left side...but...is there any way to get the notes to show up as the little diamonds like they do in earlier versions of cakewalk?  They are so much easier to work with.

Even though I have a drum map loaded...when I add a drum note in PRV, it shows up as a quarter note and I have to shorten it up manually.  I'd much prefer the diamond icons for notes in the drum tracks PRV.  ???

I'm sure this is a simple option but I haven't found it yet.

Sounds like you have "Show durations" selcetd in the PRV--->Notes menu.

Ahhh....thanks FBB.  I take it that the diamond icons for drum maps is a thing of the past?  If so, deselecting the "Show durations" will work.

    Thanks again.

The diamonds IIRC are only shown on MIDI tracks assigned to a drum synths on channel 10. I can't recall them ever being shown with drum maps.

Drum maps have the small triangles showing, unless you have "Show durations" selected.

I did a little more digging and it seems that it depends on how your instrument definitions file is set up...but only works with hardware synths and modules...ie my old Alesis D4 drum modules for instance.  I can open a midi track in PRV that is pointing to my D4 and it still shows the notes as diamonds.

Since Superior Drummer is a soft synth...it handles the display differently...!  This is good to know, since I was expecting to see the diamonds on any drum track.

Thanks again FBB for your quick responses.  You are always there for us...and we appreciate it...!

Jonesey....the drum notes I am referring to are actually diamond shaped.  I got used to seeing them when using PA9...and using hardware drum modules...or as FBB mentioned, midi channel 10 for most synth drums as that was the default channel for drums.

I just have to get it through my head that soft synths work differently than the hardware stuff.  I had never used soft synths until I got X1 a few months ago.  And working with midi for the past 30 years using hardware synths has gotten me used to doing things a certain way and expecting to see things a certain way.  BUT....I'm learning....lol.

    Thanks again guys...!
