Note to self

Avoid visiting places that are named after deadly/dangerous animals.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/03/24/komodo.dragon/index.html

Other places to avoid:

1.) Alligator Swamp National Park

2.) Tiger Shark National Ocean Park

3.) Grizzly Bear National Park

etc.

    Ouch.
You know, years ago I was a zookeeper (strange, but true), and komodos really are formidable creatures, easily capable of killing you. Even their significantly smaller monitor-lizard cousins aren't to be taken lightly. I've had a relatively small monitor (14-inch body length) attach himself to my hand... honestly felt like a vice... kept getting tighter and tighter. Only way to get them off without harming them physically: submerge your hand in water until they let go to breath. Prying their mouths open won't work, and would likely do serious damage to you and the lizard.

And komodos are significantly larger, and significantly more aggressive.
    Respect... they commanded respect.

Remember the late crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin?
He'd do almost anything, and frankly I always found him a bit... careless (having been around similar animals to those he so frequently toyed with).
Well, go find his video on komodos. When they walked his way, he climbed respectfully out of the way. Even that guy was afraid of them.

They are, for all intents and purposes, dinosaurs... not incredibly smart... driven by instinct... territorial, predators.

Feel bad for the guy picking fruit. It wouldn't be a painless way to die.

Doesnt have to be deadly animals. I once went to painful boil beach. Man.

Zevo you were a zookeeper - that is the koolest job yet that I have heard of on the forums. Way better than a repo man. Did you get to deal with the great apes? Or sea lions?

I always wanted to find a way to do some genetic mutations and develop a 3' tall giraffe for people to have as pets.

Poisonous bites, too IIRC. If you are big/fast they nip you, and then wait until you weaken. Amazing strength, not sure if even medieval body armour would stop them. They'd probably just rip it off you eventually.

Yummy, tin-canned human. Closest thing to dragons we know. Imagine their bigger fore-runners. Yikes.

    ...

In the coastal areas of SC where I grew up, the swampland was posted with signs that read, "Do Not Molest the Alligators".

We used to laugh about how obvious that concept was, but I really wish I had one of those signs for my back yard.
