Novel Music Creation Interface

Since I saw that Chordspace idea, I've kept an eye out for new interface ideas:

Here's another one with a rather neat idea behind it, and it let's you create music together using your ... cellphone.

    Hi Roflcopter,

Thanks for posting that link. I thought that the interactive tool there (the Daisyphone thing) was an interesting idea for creating loops where the patterns seem somewhat more obvious than they do with a linear sequence.

People may also be interested in the ChordSpace web pages:

The "music theory" one begins with:

and explains the construction of the interface.

    Hi Kenny,

ChordSpace itself does not make any sounds. You have to ENABLE MIDI OUT when you insert it, then set the MIDI input of whatever synth you want to play to it instead of your keyboard or other input device. You'll need your SONAR 6.2 PE to do this, as I believe that P5 cannot (sure wish it could!! Am I wrong about that anyone?).

I'm not booted in Windows at the moment, but will try to get back with a detailed set of steps so that there is no misunderstanding. In the meantime, if you get it to work, please let us know.

    Regards,
    Dave Clark

This is for its bigger brother, but should work for this one as well, it looks like what I did to get it working via another synth - there's a Direct Midi Out version now too.

    Hi Dave,
well I got something working over here....
strange little critter that chord space.....
got it to work in Sonar 6 PE.......
seems like it could be usefull once I figure it out the GUI a little better....

the music theory part I have already ...
this looks good for a quick down and dirty way to make some pads and interesting chord progressions
for some strange reason , when using my metronome with a 1 bar count in it delayed the midi recording 1 bar after the count in....
ex while recording after the 1 bar count in I went to hit a chord and it played it as audio first and then a bar later it recorded the midi...
.........after just going for a no count in metronome it recorded the midi when I hit it....
it looks pretty good ....and I can see how this can be usefull...
a quick way to lay out some interesting chord progressions...
    thanks..

    Roflcopter,
hey thanks that link helped a whole lot ....
    Kenny
