Resurrecting this thread...been on a Deep Purple kick for a few days, they certainly rock hard for a bunch of 70 yr olds, but they're bowing out now.

Completely agree. That was the first Dire Straits album I owned and was very impressed with the quality of music.

I lost interest in them when they went all stadium rock with the headbands. Knopfler's solo albums are more my cuppa tea, and closer in spirit to Dire Straits debut.

Here is some "ever so 'eavy" rock.
I saw her last night with her power trio, excellent live! She used to be more blues but she has moved in to a heavier rock sound. Excellent guitarist!

I have been talking about Gleb Koyladen and what a great piano player he is here Here is is with his band I am the Morning. Sadly they have just had to cancel a London concert as singer Marjana has visa issues.

This was one of my favorites in the 90s. I decided to pick it up again. I still love raw, aggressive sound of this album. It was recorded hot too, which just helped give the drums a huge sound.
