Now This is Serious

I guess I am not as familiar with Skylight as I thought.   While adding Lexicon to a drum track, I accidentally expanded it to full screen and then docked it.  In my attempts to undock it, it disappeared. It is in effect on the track, but I can't find the interface!  I even deleted it and re-added it to the FX Bin, but can't find the interface.

Sounds stupid, but now I see that the synths in the synth rack no longer have the keyboard icon I click on to open them--so I can get to the VI (synth) interfaces.

What's going on?

Getting more concerning.  I cannot open the interfaces to most soft synths, but it is random.

1-The soft synths do not have the keyboard icon in the Browser that I normally use to open them
2-Some will open by clicking in the left edge of synth rack, but some will not.  SI Bass will not open.
3-SD3 sometimes will open and sometimes won't.
4-Soft synths and plug-ins do not open when added, so I can't get to the controls.

I am very concerned that the Sonar interface is messed up even after rebooting the program and the PC.  Even pre-existing files open in this broken condition.

Really need some help, please.  Thanks!

Did you maybe drag it down below the task bar? that can happen quite easily.  Left click on an empty spot on the taskbar and drag it over to the side to see if it was hiding behind.

Well all the synths in the synth rack are messed up--even new ones that i add.

I think the problem is that Windows 7 once again changed a bunch of folders to Read Only.  I am testing this theory.

Did you inadvertently disable synths in the SR with a key command? If their name has parentheses around it, this is the case. Disables synths cannot display their GUI. Neither can Frozen synths.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Here is the current status:

    - I am now able to open the synths with difficulty.  They had all jumped under the task bar.
    - The interface is MESSED UP, though.  The synth rack does not show the normal Synth icons on the left and the text/snyth name is running over and out of its space.
    - I can usually open the synths by clicking in just the right place on the left of the sythn name.
    - Synths seem to play OK despite the really ugly interface.  I don't have the () to indicate a disabled instrument.

How do I get things back to normal?

Just for the hell of it, could you start a new project and see if the problem cross pollinates, so to speak? I'm wondering if the project somehow got corrupted... maybe a reinstall is in order if you can't get it sorted through other means and suggestions.

Another thing you can try is to open a new project (assuming it's displaying things correctly) and copy those screen sets to the project that is giving you problems. It has fixed a couple of very weird display problems for me in the past.

Zuma-Thanks will try a new project to check (altho all old ones open weird.)

Larry, Thanks.  I have never used the screenset function, so not sure how to copy from a good project (if I get one) to a bad project, but I will give it a go--very interesting idea.

By the way, I am going to try restoring my PC to the day before yesterday in case this is all a weird Windows 7 problem (like Sonar not being able to read the images in a folder or something).  I only feel 25% about this, but it couldn't hurt.

This is the most recent battle in an on-going  8-week war to get everything working at the same time so I can finish a seriously overdue project.  I was planning to lock myself in all next week and catch up so I pray I will have cooperative technology.

OK, really scary symptoms that ended up having really simple solutions--although no idea how they happened at the same time.

1-Couldn't open synths because as lorneyb2 suggested, they were all hidden behind a locked Windows task bar.
2-Display look messed up, but this was fixed by the small drop down next to the word Synth in the synth rack.  I selected Show Synth Icons to fix it.

This was very simple stuff, but very scary since no VIs would open and, at the same time, the display was messed up.  Since the Lexicon plug-in was also hidden behind the task bar, it was a bit confusing to figure out what was going on.  Coincidentally, the famous Windows 7 error made all my folders read-only.

    Thanks everybody for helping.
