There are zillions of wiring options but not all of them are very useful.
If it's a rear route like an LP, I recommend just jumpering up various options and playing with them to see if they're useful to you. You will likely find that some things don't have much value, depending on your tastes/guitar/PU's.
Personally I don't have much use for out of phase, or splitting HB's (unless they're being combined with SC's). But I also have nothing against having extra options - they just have to be useful.

It must be my feminine side  I use out of phase a lot on my dual humbucker Epiphone Scroll. I like it very much on that guitar

I didn't think I'd have a use for it, but the split humbuckers on my new LP are actually pretty cool. I'm even more at peace retiring my old strat because of that option on the LP.
Not sure how useful the phase stuff is, but, if Jimmy dug it...

You know, drewfx1 and Rain, it's all a great gamble. I can not try all pickups in the world on this particular guitar, my Epiphone AlleyKat. I cannot try all different wiring diagrams. I know a like phase switching in one particular guitar, I don't know how this will be for my Epiphone AlleyKat, with the chosen pickups. I like the idea of coil splitting on the neck pickup, but I don't know how it will sound with on my Epiphone AlleyKat, with the chosen neck pickup. And I like the idea of the switch that puts the neck and bridge pickup in series together, but again, I don't know how it will sound with on my Epiphone AlleyKat, with the chosen pickups. So the bottomline is: - I can buy 4 normal 500 K CTS pots, € 6,50 each and solder a uncomplicated wiring.
- I can buy 4 500K push/pull pots € 16 each and do some intensive thinking and soldering. This gives me a lot more sound options, while some of the options may be useless.

I loves me some Johnny Guitar Watson. And that there's my favorite tune of his. Course his work with Zappa was simply delectable. Get yo funk on Zonno, ol pal.

I have an Epi Les Paul with SD Jazz pickups on it. I've got push pull switches on the volume knobs to go to single coil. I like to keep the neck pickup in single coil position most times.
