Nucleus SSL cheaper then a VS700 package.

Offcourse you get more with the VS700. But I am surprised that in Europe a SSL Nucleus is cheaper then a V-studio 700. It's allways difficult to maintain a decent price for a nice product like the VS700. But probably it has hit the market at just the right time.

I own a Roland Studio Package II. And after a year it was half the price I paid for it. Look nice this way. I think it is a very nice controller/audio interface.

Rock on.

SSL = uk company .. cakewalk = US , so like others can't exactly compete price wise to their European and UK companies.. it's more to do with that, than anything.

It is kinda like comparing apples to kumquats.  The Nucleus is a universal controller w/ a couple of nice preamps.  Vs700 a very specific controller and an i/o unit, and a hardware synth.  I bet the VS700C works a lot better w/ Sonar - even X1 - than the SSL.  Not so well w/ other DAWs, tho.  And we won't even get into the extra stuff, tho I would probably take the SSL preamps over the Roland.

I was hoping the VS 700, esp. the controller, to come down in price.  I guess it hasn't, esp. in Europe.  But if anyone wants to send me both units I'll check them out thoroughly and send you back the one I think works better ;-)

End of the day the Roland offers more I think. And it's nice the price stays at a decent level...

Bear in mind also that there is a thread here on Cakewalk and on Gearslutz that has someone struggling to get the Nuceus fully working with Sonar.

The thread below refers to an incompatibility in terms of True MCU mode vs Logic Control MCU mode.

    http://forum.cakewalk.com...37&mpage=1#2352987

Anyone considering this would have to take it up with SSL first.
