Nudge a project several measures ?

Hello, I needs me some advice on how to properly nudge a project several measures forward so I can fit in a longer intro. I know how to nudge a clip, But have never nudged multiple tracks. My fear is messing up the sync of any of the tracks. Thanks for your help, Ken

Select all the tracks and clips by double clicking several times until the entire project darkens (all tracks and clips selected) then simply drag them all to the right as far as needed.

I would set the snap to grid setting to "measures" first so it moves to the closes measure line to keep everything lined up and synched to the internal metronome.

Or an alternative would be to set the now time to the start of the project then from the main menu select Project---->Insert Time/Measures. Make sure all the boxes for events etc. are checked (they are by default) enter the number of measures you want to insert and press okay.

There shouldn't be a problem. If you have a lot of key changes, tempo changes, meter changes etc then you have to be carefull to move these accordingly.

You can either highlight everything with Ctrl+A and drag everything to the new location like Guitarhacker explained, or you can nudge with the keypad (7 and 9 defaults to Meassure if I recall correctly).

You can also go to the Project Menu - Insert Time/Meassures, set the numbers of Bars/ticks/Seconds/Frames at whatever position you like and make sure that all the check boxes are ticked so it slides Tempo Changes, Markers etc to the new position automaticly.

And finally, you can hit Ctrl+A followed by Ctrl+X to cut everything, make sure that all available check boxes are selected, set Now Time to the position you want everything to start at and hit Ctrl+V.

    Hope this helps

I always start my default projects on measure 3 anyway. It gives me 2 measures for count in and pick up notes.

And..... just recently I started working on a tune and then decided I really wanted a unique intro that was about 6 measures long at the very beginning..... kind of a faded in thing..... so I did what I posted above, moved the entire project in one simple drag and drop move...and added the new stuff.

    Sweet and easy.

This is an excellent habit, I usually start my songs on bar 8 unless I have to deal with Video for which I will move the music/sounds to match video edits. But leaving some space in the start is great for when you have better ideas and need time at the start. And if you have some plugs that require some extreme plug in delay compensation you will avoid pops and lost notes etc when playing back as well as reverb tails in memory when bouncing out stuff.

Yeah... that was wicked good advice. I now know to leave a good hunk of space at the start of every project now if I happen to need it. Also the whole idea of effects and stuff having a chance to kick in before receiving any real input signals is something I never would have thought of but it makes perfect sense. Cheers!
