Number of usb MIDI Interfaces limit?

I have two MIDI interfaces, one each on my dual Delta 1010LT PCI cards.  I would like to add two or three more and since I'm out of PCI slots, they will have to be USB 2.0 types

Is there a limit to the number of USB MIDI interfaces that I can use with Sonar 4 PE?  I am concerned with latency.

My use is to drive an E-Mu Proteus 2000 (uses two MIDI interfaces for 32 channels), E-Mu Planet Phatt, Alesis QSR, and an Alesis D4 all at the same time.

Thanks!

I just bought a cakewalk um-3g .. that'll add another 3.. no problems with it here.
the beauty of that is you can daisy chain 3 of them together and its expandable.

the concern with latency is majority of the time with audio

I bought that brand it partly because one of their rivals likes to drop drivers instead of supporting products. I don't want to put things in landfill for no reason when they work.

I doubt there is a limit.. BUT that's a really old version of sonar , so I can't be 100% .. I don't see why it would be an issue though

I discovered that I have an additional 8 (yes, eight) MIDI ports in my compter.  That makes a total of 12!

I got my MOTU Midi Timepiece AV working last night.  It's the parallel version.  I did not realize that not only can I route MIDI in/outs but it also gives me 8 MIDI ports via the parallel port.  This may seem obvious to  some, it wasn't to me.

I have been using a MOTU MIDI Express PC Notebook MIDI device, parallel interface, for MIDI routing.  It has 4 MIDI ins and 6 MIDI outs.  All it did was MIDI routing, it does not provide a MIDI port to  the computer.

The MOTU MIDI Express PC Notebook driver works ONLY with Win98 & earlier.  I used to use a tiny Libretto 110CT laptop to run it but a year ago I decided to get a MIDI  router that works with Windows XP.  This would alow me to retire the Libretto and run everything in Windows XP.  So I bought the MTPAV to use for MIDI routing.  I had no expectation that it would also provide 8 MIDI ports.  Last spring I was deployed to Iraq and I had to put my studio on hold.   Yesterday I set about getting it to work.

So now I have all the MIDI ports I need!  This is a terrific discovery on my part!!

Perhaps I should have read the manual..

I think I encountered a limit in Windows on 8 midi ports once, but that was w2k.

I created too many virtual midi ports and got some error because of this limit.
