OCEAN OF TEARS - NEW BANDCAMP LINK !!!!!

Hey I needed some listeners with that recent song sample I posted , you were right it needed so much work I decided to delete all my tracks except for my drum track and my percussion tracks .
This is what I created today , completely different . I added a nice Bass track , some light electric guitar and a nice chorus violin .
The piano track I redid also and added a nice PAD sound to go with it , I'm pretty sure I got the MIX right but you be the judge if you don't mine listening to what I have going on now .
I also renamed my song , its now called OCEAN OF TEARS .
http://nightfoxmusic.bandcamp.com/track/ocean-of-tears

I'm greatfull for all postive feedback and suggestions thanks -James

Sounds good. Suggestions, try bringing up the mids with the Pro Channel EQ. Try placing a low pass filter on the bottom end. Swing the piano to a bus and put in a slight chorus effect on it, Cakewalk FX Chorus, Big Stereo Spread. Clone and pan a bit. Then add some guitar solo! FREE

    Not a bad start James.

The mix definitely needs work, it all sounds a bit muddy. Maybe try out Randy's suggestions, it might help to clean things up a bit.

As far as the structure goes, it needs to go somewhere. You need to change direction once or twice to maintain interest, as it stands, it's almost like an eight-bar loop on repeat.

And maybe try and build up the piece a bit - for example you could hold off on bringing the drums or the piano in until a bit later to help move things along.

How's the guitar playing coming along?

As the guys said on Crossfire, it could use some direction.

I like Little Abbey. The nice thing about being a beginner guitar player is that you don't over play it. The parts fit perfectly in there.

Thanks Scotty your right about direction something I was still working
on , I was more or less noodlying around on the keyboard thats all
so I would have something on the piano track for you guys to listen to .
Randys suggestions sound like a solid plan of attack , thanks everyone
for the feedback on the MIX on this new song I'm working on .

Thanks Scotty I'll never be as good as you on the guitar but maybe in
a year or two I can play good enough to work with all my songs as
              I create them .

James, this sounds very moody, and I could hear some cool vocals over this, ala Sade.  I love the dark progression and keyboard in this.  Good start!

Hi Lynn , thanks buddy ! I might go back and replay my the guitar I added in here I was really too tired to be messing with it but thought what the heck try it anyway .
Hey how can I get my guitar outfront more without drowning out whats behind the music I created ?
I added some compression to my guitar track  , is there any other mixing
guitar tricks I can try experimenting around with to really make my guitar POP  ?

Thanks for the listen - James

Sounds good James, Sounds like a good start. Just wondering if you have any plans on writing a song with vocals in the near future?

I know that's not your thing, and I'm kinda stuck with giving the old vocal pipes a try from time to time just to finish my songs, but you should give it some consideration.

I really liked that song you done, Neverland where you added vocals to it, you should do more stuff like that.

Either way, I like this, keep on rockin'!!

Thanks Bobby , I like writing lyrics and singing but my problem is living
in this apartment where the walls are thin . I thought about building a
inexpensive singing booth but even that can cost two or three hundred
              bucks .
This music would sound good with a womens voice in it and maybe some
good male vocals backing her up .

As for the old Neverland song , months ago I thought about redoing that
song , maybe change some of the lyrics but you know how that goes
when something like this comes along you end up pushing that ideal aside .
But hey you never know , I might have to dig up the Neverland files , HELL
I forgot I recorded that with Sonar Home Studio 7 XL I think or did I . That
was four years back when M.J. died .

Thanks for the listen - James

Thanks for the listen and comment , I shortened it last night
and now I'm working on some sort of chorus section that will
support the verse section that you listened too .

Very moody blueish w/ the mellotron.  That sounded perfect.  What did you use?

Still needs some progression, even at only 2 minutes.  You've got a nice groove going w/ the drums and mello.  Vocals - female, would fit perfectly.    Or a lead that sticks out gently, or several of them weaving in and out.

    I liked it.

Thanks , the only instruments used in this thus far is GRAND PIANO , BASS GUITAR , ELECTRIC GUITAR , DRUMS , PERCUSSION SOUNDS I created , SYNTH PAD and thats pretty much it .
Right now I'm only playing four chords and plan on adding atlease three more chords in the chorus section .
If I add a bridge section maybe three more chords , thanks for the listen and comments .
I spend a few more hours setting up a chorus section and working with that , maybe by tommorrow the chorus section will be finished .

    Thanks - James

Thanks Mark , I been like crazy on it and right now I have two verses finished , three chorus sections finished . Still working on the bridge , sort started but I need to add something else to it .
I also might add alittle more guitar in each verse section , right now have of each verse has guitar in each one .

    http://soundcloud.com/nightfoxmusic
I just posted what I have been working on for four days , getting close to calling it finished .

The bad news is yesterday one of my monitor speakers died on me . I took the one right side monitor speaker and I'm using my stereo unit to power it .
Atlease I have one monitor speaker to MIX with , better then none at all I guess . There goes another hundred dollars next month on some cheap $100.00 monitor speakers .

    Thanks again - James

Heres my update on this new song I been working on for a few weeks now .
In the last four days I have reworked the entire song , I added some lead guitar in each of my two verses .
Then I added lead guitar to all three of my chorus sections and some of things too .

I'm trying keep this song as mellow as I can with some slightly noticable mellow changes in the chorus sections .

Anyway I updated my soundclick link if anyone whats to listen to it again and comment on what I added to it so far .

    http://soundcloud.com/nightfoxmusic
I'm still working on the bridge section , right now there hardly anything in there just a bass track .

    Thanks -James

Thanks Scotty , I'm starting to enjoy some
of the things I can do and play on my guitar .
Getting around on the fretboard and playing all the
right notes seems to be easier the more I work at it
and thats a good thing I guess .

Hey everyone I finally finished this song OCEAN OF TEARS , MIXED it using my only one monitor speaker left after my other died on me two days ago .

The song has two verses , three chorus sections and a small bridge  .
I tried to keep everything as mellow as I could get it with some slight changes in the chorus sections and the bridge .
My whole song has guitar in it now , hope you like it as a new
    beginner guitarist .
WARNING I'm not Scotty but I tried my best what can I say ITS ALL ME and that makes me HAPPY .
