No. The driver is the interface between the device and the operating system, so if you change the OS, you will need a Win 7 compatible driver. It is possible that a Vista driver might work in Win 7, but an XP driver will almost certainly not.

Yes, David is correct. I was thinking more about hardware compatibility. You will need at least Vista-level drivers. Win7 drivers should be available on Creative's site though. Dan

It does not appear that there are any drivers for that card that are written for Win 7. You might try the Vista drivers, but I would not be surprised if they didn't work.

If you use "older" drivers, you can right-click them and set Compatibility to the last known OS they worked under. This is not always 100% but it has worked for me a time or two.

There is a wealth of information for E-MU interface users on the following website - http://www.productionforums.com/viewforum.php?f=179&sid=d50355c444466ca6caa1544b9a29cc7f Post your questions there. I'm pretty sure that if you search the website, you can find posts relating to the use of the 0404 PCI interface with Windows 7. Also, one of the longtime users, "Jmail", is a warehouse of knowledge about E-MU stuff. If anyone can help you, he can. For the record, I use an E-MU 1616m PCMCIA CardBus 32-bit interface on one of my laptops running Windows 7 64-bit. I use a "Beta" driver that E-MU released a few years back. Works like a charm. That laptop is a backup to my other laptop that runs an RME Babyface Pro, also on Windows 7 64-bit. Though I haven't needed to run the E-MU laptop as a backup, I still use it from time to time to run BFD2 (the Babyface Pro laptop runs BFD3). Check out Production Forums. You'll probably get all your questions answered.

If you have a Windows 7 disc, you are better off doing a clean OS install from the disc, and NOT installing Windows 7 over XP.
