OK I'm mad....

I scored a one hour special for the DIY Network for very, very little money.  Today I get a composer's agreement that says I am not entitled to any royalties!

So NO ONE Watch the DIY Network!

Turn it off right now!

DO IT!

    No no no! You misunderstood!

They meant you aren't entitled to any of kings, queens, princesses, princes, etc etc.

Wouldn't it be wise to get the agreement before supplying the score?

Just a little detail that struck me whilst reading.

    That's a bummer.

Just curious why you did not get the agreement before you did the work.

You know what they say, if you want anything done right, you have to do it yourself.

Did you already sign an agreement with that in?

If they sent you a composers agreement you have to sign it to make it a valid contract. If you haven't signed anything, then perhaps you ought to try to negotiate too. However, if the work has been supplied you have lost a lot of your negotiating power.

Since he's saying "Don't watch" and "Turn it off" I'm suspecting he's already provided the work.

    I could be wrong though.

Yes,   the production company that I did the work for has been very, very good to me over the years.  They actually put an extra $200 more than my invoice 'cause they had a little more money than they thought.

I already signed a composer agreement that insinuated royalties.

Well the DIY Network is slow with their paper work and the production company, who has no idea what royalties are or how the work passed the "new" agreement on to me.

I could sue and win back my paultry "DIY Royalties" and ruin my relationship with a good client.

    I just hate DIY now...

PS  the show has already aired multiple times and is one of their top rated shows ever.
