OK What Next ?

Something new with some moderately enthused guitar. Gotta clean it up, but somehow managed to get a live sound. Hope you enjoy. Have a great weekend!

Jamming! I like the Jazz fusion style and think this fits very well in that space. I like the varied drum mixes. Just when I thought I was tiring of the drum sound, you mixed it up a bit. Nice. Around 3:02 I enjoyed the motif you were playing off from, but the rhythm felt a little awkward going into the first pass. This of course might just be me and my lack of rhythm though. :) Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing!

Right off the bat Joe, I got a Chic Corea ( with guitarist Frank Gambale) vibe from this... There was a little timing glitch as mentioned in the beginning as mentioned, but it was pretty much smooth sailing from then on. I always enjoy your guitar playing man!! Good song!

    Joe

I know when you post something that its gonna be a good trip...so no nasty surprises there.

The overall mix sounds a bit overdone at the high mid range to me but that may be my listening environment.

    Excellent playing, nice one.

Hi All: Thanks for listening and commenting.

Keith - You're right, the ensemble is not entirely well synced. When I processed the guitar track in Cool Edit Pro and resaved it, isomething happened that it fell out of sync somewhere after the half-way point. Rather than doing it over, I took the guitar track and folded it back from the point where the sync was OK, and duplicated the whole track onto a second track, where I attempted to "sit" the last part in by nudging it to where it was in sync. Not close enough apparently, so I may wind up doing the guitar in segments, which I usually do, and try to nail it that way.

Hey Larry: It was a Happy Happy, Joy Joy thing. The energy kinda made up for the lack of polish, so I threw it out there.

Jonbuoy: Always great to hear from you. And Yes, I need to EQ this better. I wanted to preserve the "loaded gun" tension of the guitar track, but should probably get rid of the sustained rumble during the bass solo. You hear it in other spots anyway, especially the end, so, I need to clean that up.

Strangely, no one commented on the bass solo or the pig... heavy sigh..

wow, Joe, LOVE THAT PIG! are those REAL pearls???

this is pretty cool stuff! love the guitar sound on this. nice stereo separation, drums sound pretty good. the bass sounds kind of "dull" for lack of a better word. did you DI it? the playing is really good on it, but it could really use some UMPH if you know what I mean?

    great job overall!

    It's still a pig... (the pic w/lipstick :-)

Something about the mix had almost a "live" feel? It could be the reverb? Great guitar work, you've been practicing those scales :-) The fretless is very nice too.

I see after re-reading your post that you said you got a live sound! LOL, I agreed before I actually read that.

I really enjoyed this groove, and the bass solo was really cool... I'd love to hear the guitar less processed and played through a good tube amp...
    Great playing... Enjoyed...

    Great song. Sounds really good.

Its the second song I almost overlooked tonight due to the title leading me to think it was just conversational. Glad I came to look.

    Cheers

OK... For those of you who listened initially, it's now a different mix with a lighter keyboard to get out of the heavy mid-range. The bass now has a bit of chorus and seems to sit in the mix a bit better (sorry Robby, it's not a fretless, but a 5-string Fender).

Hi Notnat: Yeah, it's played through a Line 6 Pod... Am working on the live sound with a 2X12 Hot Rod DeVille, though the mic'ing part will be challenging.. Still working on some pedals too.. Thanks for listening.

Hi Steve: It might sound a bit cleaner now, glad you stopped by!

Hi Janet: Miss Piggy is bootiful... You all enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'm off tomorrow and Tuesday's a holiday.
