OMG

It's only 8:30pm and I am zzzzzzzooooooooooooo boooaard.

So, I'll just sit here and get some stuff of my chest.

Never heard back from the guy who said he was going to hire me 2 weeks ago. He had to set up a second interview with the local manager and I never heard back. Got another job offer that was a killer position. Same exact thing, he had to do a background check and said HR would call to verify anything and send me out a contract to sign. Never heard back from them. So it got me to thinking maybe there is something on my credit report so I went online and did one. Perfect. Not a single blemish on it going back 17 years. Apparently I still have some credit cards with a 20K credit limit that I didn't know I had. Missed my long term unemployment training class by accident. Wrote the wrong day down on the calendar on my fridge. I only have a couple of months left anyway ... what does it matter?

Lets see ... what else ... land slides where my sister lives in NJ. Two houses slid right down the mountain and smashed in to the old casino my band and 10,000 others used to play at back in the day. It's been abandoned for years, but this is truly the end of an era now that the entire building has been moved off it's foundation. No reason to fix an abandoned building so I'm sure it will be demolished. It's that big building on the right with mud up to the roof. The lower section of the roof line is the dance floor. It was huge. Then there was an equal sized one in the basement. It was the place to go in our area back in the day. Here's a link to the full article. Every once in a while I'll see a post card up for sale on eBay showing some of the old groups that used to play there back in the 50's. Guys in pink suits, horn sections, and the whole 9 yards. Thankfully nobody was killed, and they are saying the ol' girl actually stopped the houses from going in to the lake that sits right behind it and avoided a major catastrophe. It's a glacial lake and has never been contaminated. They talk about it in the article. Where all that mud is in the picture, that used to be the road, then in front of the building was a parking lot that made a horseshoe shape around it, and the back side was a walkout area on to the beach.

Goodbye ol' friend ... Thanks for the memories ...

Wow--that's sad!  All of it.  (sorry to hear about those un-jobs.  :(  )

Glad no one was hurt...I hope no one was in those houses, either. That would have been a terrifying ride!

Bub, have you thought about possibly calling those two companies back?  Sometimes by calling back that will indicate a real interest in the job to HR (granted the jobs likely have been filled by others).

Too bad about the jobs, Jim's right--what do have to lose. Good luck. Did I read the article correctly--both homes "were occupied at the time, but no one was reported injured." Are they saying that someone was in the houses and rode the them down the hill!

Hi Bub, two weeks is not really that long, sometimes things can take a little longer. However, it is a decent amount of time justify a call-back. As Noldar said, it shows a real interest, which can only go in your favour. In the current job climate, there are people who will push a bit harder than others, and it it those who will get the jobs. At the very worst, you'll find out why you didn't get hired, which would be a bit of a kick, but you'd know where you stand. Good luck!

Bub, I used to live in S Jersey.  My mom did some hairdresser training in Trenton for a few years.

Back in 8th grade, our school science class did a 3 day field trip to Stokes State Forest. The lodge we stayed in was next to one of those glacial lakes.

Being from the southern part of the state were all the lakes and ponds look like big mud puddles I was totally amazed to see such crystal clear water. Even in the deepest part of the lake you could see the various rocks and things on the bottom.

I never knew such clean water existed in NJ.

Sorry to hear about your circumstances... I hope you can find a job soon.

Yep. Isn't that amazing? And those houses weren't just perched up there just off the road, they had long driveways you had to go up to get to them. Must have been one hell of a ride.
