by mine the credit card, they expect you to pay them back , isnt that funny? i just found the drums under SONAR 7 producers today is the first time i was em saw em thats some fancy artwork there. you know some body has to type all those little pixels in one at a time, cept they mite use that fancy dany photo suite thing too sill tho, the tool bar buttons, one pixel at a time. there it is insert > soft synths > session drummer. i have yet to use it. looks nice wayne fyi out in sf ca http://www.youtube.com/WAYNETHANDZUS solo guitar intro hello greeting?

i didn't see it either, they have a search function GC' site. but i never tried that ,, duuh
i am using procussion, seems to do all i need done and sounds very good. low noisew levels too when i recorded it even tho i am using a pair of unbalanced cables, . . only 1 foot long. actuall she tried telling me that was a long one.
now that a april fools.
i believe he really meant it. re the sale,

Nope, no April fool's joke. I got a flyer from GC with Slash on the cover. You know one of those booklet type things they send out with usually the same ol things highlighted and an occasional loss leader. Anywhoo, as I was thumbing through it as I was. . .er. . .on the. . .well. . .cogitating I noticed the $129.00 special. A misprint, I thought. But (and since we are a commercial studio who does a fair amount of dross with our local GC) I called my bud, the manager of the local GC and asked I see you're running a special on Addictive Drums at $129.00 plus you get a free expansion pack is that right? And if so can you beat it? He was and he did and it is on my computer as I type. Still have to mail in the rebate form for the Retro expansion pack but geeze, it was a no brainer. If you can't find it on their site I encourage you to just call your local GC and ask. Tell em it's in the "Slash" promotional mailer.

Then that's a great buy. AD is one of the best - some say the best - you can get. I started with Battery, then EZD with the EZX expansion, and then finally AD. AD loads way faster than any of them. And of course I think it sounds better. It has the ease of use of EZD but you can tweak the hell out of it. Very well designed and user friendly. They obviously want to expand their user base with this promotion. They are a very young company that has done some pretty amazing things with their first release of software. I'd recommend it to anyone thinking about buying a decent drum synth.

Being such a young company they have been trying penetrate the U.S. market with good distribution channels. So far their distributor in the U.S. has been Big Fish Audio. In the past when I asked about AD in my local Guitar Center they never heard about it. Maybe that's changing. $199 is even a good deal when you compare the quality of the program with anything from Toontrack, FXpansion and the rest. Some of those packages are more than twice the cost.

I just confirmed the price with the local guitar center in Boston.
I do not know about the mail in rebate part, but AD for $129 is a good deal. IMHO
I use the demo all the time as a modified metronome.
I love the sounds and can't wait to load it up tonight.

Thanks! yorolpal- thanks for the heads up, I got the last copy in the SE Fla. area! And it's the latest version too! (1.1.1) And thanks to you Jon for the link to the coupons page. The dufus' at GC had no clue about the coupon deal or where I could obtain one. Of course, there's no mention of it at XLN's site or Big Fish Audio either. I was going crazy looking for this thread to ask how to get the coupon. Thanks again, AD sounds amazing. Oh, and while I was there, I picked up Amplitube SE/Live for $15! picked up one outside of DC. Was traveling and drove past a GC and I couldn't step away :) Same thing, GC staff had no idea 1) it was on sale or 2) there was a free retro pak with mail in proof. who is john galt? :)

I tried to get this at the closest GC to me but they only had one and it was "on hold". I then phoned GC Online and was able to order it for the same price. The salesperson had to look up the ad with Slash on the cover as he was unaware of the sale and the online store still had it at the regular price. The only downside is that it is back ordered until the 23rd of April. I downloaded the demo from the AD website. I also downloaded some free midi drum files from Groove Monkey. Heck, even the demo would work for a lot of stuff. It sure sounds good.
I've been using Drums on Demand, BetaMonkee, and Drumatic loops. I think I may now be pretty set!

Although I feel very lucky having snatched up the very last box in all of SE Fla., I'm skeptical of XLN's ability to deliver on the other half of this crazy deal... the free Retro AD expansion pak. By perusing their forum it's apparent that there's a back log of orders on that item as well. So I'm afraid the free boxes will be the last of their prorities.

It comes down to the fact that many GC personnel don't seem to be aware of the sale. So really, all you need to do is go to a GC store and bring the ad with you. (Or do like Steve, mentioned earlier in the thread, and order it via phone). Even if they don't have any in stock, they will order it for you - or put one aside in your name when the next batch comes in - and at the sale price, which they have to honor. HTH, JD

I emailed Sweetwater to see if this was some kind of manufacturer's promotion or something.
My contact there says $129 is significantly below wholesale cost. He says GC is in serious financial trouble and may be just trying to liquidate inventory.

more likely is that Guitar Center's overall inherent crappy-ness is catching up with them, along with the glut of cheap recording hardware & software out there that's pretty much all the same shtuff. made in china, cheap but overpriced, unserviceable. the place claims to provide customer service but they have absolutely no one there who can help anyone. without customer service one could just as well order from musicians friend or zzounds or sweetwater or pssl and pay no sales tax and get free shipping more often than not.

Hey JD, can you give us an update on your delivery status? I sent mine out about two weeks ago so I called Big Fish today to find out if they recieved my coupon and stuff. Spoke to a guy named "Mac". As it turns out he is in charge of shipping the retro paks out and he said none have been sent out. I told him about what you said and he was emphatic, claiming that he's the one who does the shipping and that he would know. He went and checked and assured me that they had recieved my documentation and that they would begin shipping the paks out next week. So wassup? You got connections? heh heh, spill the beans dude.

Nope, he-he, no special connections, and yeah, I did get the retro pak the following day, which was last Friday. In fact, I installed AD and the Retro pak on Sunday (though haven't had a chance to play with them yet). Can't comment on Mac's statement, but obviously someone shipped it to me... JD

well i must say you are all lucky (insert bad word). i`ve had AD since it came out and i payed $269+tax for it and $119+tax for the RETRO ADPACK but however it is the best drum sample engine around so it was still worth it to. as for people looking for a drum synth this is not a synth it`s made of real drum samples that`s why it`s so darn good. too all you lucky (insert bad word) ENJOY.
