OT: Cascade Microphones - ELROY anybody own one?
Just curious to know if anyone owns one or has read any reviews on the product. I'm thinking about getting one. I've read some reviews on the FATHEAD but I'm looking for a tube mic. Appreciate any feedback

I sold my Fathead and got an Apex 215, and I am much happier with the sound. Not that Fathead is bad, but I think the Apex is a better deal overall.

For a great value on a tube mic I'd recommend the MXL-V69.
to find a link. That site offers the mic with the NOS Mullard tube modification. When I bought mine a few years ago the Mullard option wasn't available so I ordered the tubes and installed them myself (a tip I learned from another forum).
Believe it or not, the V69 (with the NOS Mullard modification) stacks up comparably to many of the much higher priced (think Neumann) mics available on the market, but it costs considerably less. I've had mine for nearly four years and consider them to be a worthwhile investment. I bought my first one because the price was appealing. I bought my second one because the quality was appealing.
The mics sound great on vocals (lead & background) and acoustic instruments. They're a very versatile component of my mic cabinet.
Regards,
Papa
