I know you know this, but it's not even close to being the same thing. Craig isn't a developer of SW that competes with SONAR. He's an advanced (to say the least) user and reviewer of all kinds of audio products, and has given Cakewalk's products a lot of press over the years. Recently he did a nuts and bolts review of Rapture, and while he was at it, compared it with Dim Pro while taking questions from folks in a thread. A live review, if you will. Amazingly generous.

I've been reading his articles about DAWs, recording in general, DIY gadgets for maybe 20 years. IMO, he deserves to be congratulated on his new gig.

Then go to his forum and tell him. Hell, just email the guy. He isn't hard to find. I just don't see how kissing the guy's ass is getting you anywhere.

I'm sorry. From now on, just assume I agree with everything you say, do, think.

Hi Sid-
I just don't see how kissing the guy's ass is getting you anywhere.

It's just pointing out and letting people know about another resource, just like mentioning Scott Garrigus's books. I've never understood why this bothers you so much.

What will Craig think?

Scott is the spam god who's idea of help is "visit my forum/read my book" and Craig has his own forum and isn't a contributor here.

If it had been on Craig's forum, it might have made sense. I have to admit, I don't understand the need to say anything to people that aren't here.

You can disagree with me all you want, though I don't understand what joy you get out of a post like the earlier one you made.

Are you the band problem child, the one everyone always makes excuses for? Do you have a girlfriend? Ever have fun? Your posts are almost always snide or condescending, almost never helpful. I've seen tons worse of course, from others elsewhere, but doesn't that chip on your shoulder the size of a Kurzweil get a little heavy?

Let's see.
I am the lead writer and go to guy in my bands.
I have a wife and five kids (thanks for asking)
I'm having fun now.
I post to the situation, and this was the situation in this thread.
That would be a Z1.

I wondered the same thing, and directed the OP to a forum where Craig will be. Very helpful I might add.

Hi Sid-

What possible difference could this make to you? It seems to be some sort of crusade for you, and I just don't get it. I'll leave it alone, though. We all take up different causes for different reasons, I guess...

Back in the early 80's Craig had a company calles PHIA...PIHA...PAIA...well something like that. He sold small kits you could assemble yourself. One kit, a stopmbox compressor for guitar was one of the best I ever owned. I used it for years. Way to go Craig.

Craig Anderton: Got his book "Mixing in Sonar 3". This book expanded my knowledge, and I found it great. Other that that I don't know much about him.

Scott Carrigus: Got his book "Sonar 3 Power". It hardly taught me anything I didn't know from the manual. Maybe a littel easier to read than the manual, but that's all. This guy is all over the place, I guess with a not very well hidden agenda to promote himself and his books. On the other hand he does contribute with a lot of free advice too, so I forgive him and accept his presence.

Actually it goes back farther than that. I remember assembling my PAIA synth kit in the fall 1975.

The primary force behind PAiA was a man named John Simonton. A real e-music geek-world pioneer and inspiration to uncountably many souls. (Unfortunately, John passed away recently. God rest his soul.) Craig had significant involvement with PAiA, too, but I don't recall that he actually ran the company. For many years, though, Craig used to sell kits from his book "Electronic Projects for Musicians" through a company called Godbout Electronics.

Yeah, I built lots of kits & modules from both of them. Built a PAiA Stringz & Thingz string machine over Winter break 1979-80, and a Proteus programmable analog synth in the summer of 80. But the most fun was figuring out how to hack & mod the kits after you built them and got them working. On the Stringz, I added a tuning circuit that let you sweep the pitch an octave. On the Proteus, I took another kit, the PAiA joystick, and screwed it onto the side of the Proteus, and ran a modulation matrix through it. That synth wasn't very stable, but it did sound sweet. Anyway, that's how I managed to keep my sanity in college. So, I do have sincere heartfelt thanks to both Jon and Craig for their contributions.
