OT: D'Angelico Guitars

I put this in the gear section but no response so far.

Has anyone tried the new D'Angelico guitars?

http://www.dangelicodirect.com/store/pc/home.asp

I saw an advertisement for D'Angelico Direct and was surprised by the low cost. Are they any good? What is the quality like? I was looking at the Excel line. There was EXL 1 for $895 plus the cost of a case and the EXL 1DP for $995. For under a thousand it seems too good to be true. What do you think? Any other suggestions for a jazz guitar for about a thousand dollars? I have a grand burning a hole in my pocket and I need a big fat jazz guitar.

Personally I'd wait until it has grown a little brother, and go for an Eastman, huge difference in quality I think, and much more up to your expectations of what such a guitar should be. They can be had for quite a bit under list, I saw.

Thanks for the information on Eastman guitars. I was not familiar with them. They look great and seem to be reasonably priced.
