click on that link and add your moniker and city, state.

some folks have put their city, state in, but didn't put their name/moniker in, so we don't know who they are.

I took the anonymous visitors off.

John - I didn't see your name or alias on any of them, so if you had put a pin in the map it got deleted because there wasn't a name. make sure when you put your city and state (and/or country) you also put at least your forum user name on it.

not on this map. I tried zooming in, but when I get to the size where the city covers most of the map area I get an "image not available" message.

i've used other maps to see satellite photos of my house, tho.

Thanks Bob - I regularly scan through the MC and the HS forums just for the vast amount of great information on offer and as part of my research in advance of my imminent upgrade to HS6XL.

I've been fiddling about with my old MCPro24 and trying out some of the tips - you were right Bob, I'm getting hooked on this stuff!

    Hi there Beagle.

I can sometimes zoom into my push-pin on the map right down to the maximum Google Earth level and sometimes it stops at the city level; it might be due to how busy the web or the site is - I don't know, but I get there more often than not.

If you haven't already tried it, have a look at Microsoft's Live Search Maps - as well as most of the functions of Google Earth, some parts of the globe have also been mapped photographically from the air.

They call this their '3d' mapping - in many cases, you can also spin the view around in 90° amounts thereby getting four separate views of your target area. There are two zoom levels available which are very close-up indeed.

It's available where I live, and I just checked and Fort Worth seems to have been mapped in '3d' as well - this is a screenshot of the work area with a 3d of one of your bridges [sorry Beagle but I don't know of any famous landmarks there!!]:

Just one other thing, I've accidentally erased 'Nutty' from my personal map when trying to erase the visitor that was lying closeby - any idea how I reinstall Nutty's pushpin or have I lost it forever [unless I re-register]?

Thanks again for a great idea.

I think you have to just add her back in, or get her to add it back in.

I recognize the area, that's the Trinity River and Henderson St. - not a good part of town! LOL! cools stuff. I've seen google streets before, but haven't spent much time looking at different things. I've never looked at MS's stuff.

So your saying we should make ourselves open to "ISP" address stalkers and things like that by letting everyone know where we live????

BEAGLE!!!!! Christmas is over with man, put down the eggnog!!!!!

The only upside of an idea like this would be in marketing something to know where you need to advertise certain things as far as that goes. IMO.

And you say you have nothing to do with Cakewalk?

As far as "Getting to know you goes, that needs to be done on an INDIVIDUAL BASIS and people do not need to be looking over their shoulder while doing their daily activities". Why do I say that you might ask, because I had this BS happen to me in the 80's. That's why, if you aren't carefull somebody will take advantage of you in ways you can't even imagine! As far as what happened to me goes, that's well documented and may come up at another point and time in place.

I am talking about making yourself vunerable to others in many ways.

BTW: Paranoia is simply a state of hightend awareness in many cases.

These are my thoughts with my bad spelling and all on this crap, I hope you get the message.

No flaming is meant by my comments Beagle, you are da man when it comes to needing help.

I guess I probably have worn out my welcome here but that's ok, I'm gonna keep making music either way.

Why do I say that, reason is no-one replies to me anymore. That's cool. I am a person who says what they think and doesn't FOLLOW THE CROWD so to speak.

Best wishes Beagle, you are a good person, and I appologize if I sound as though I am blasting you with harsh words.

Sorry freeze, but you're being ridiculous. I didn't ask for anyone's REAL name, just their forum name. and as far as being able to tie you to your location with your name, that's already being done every time you use the internet!!!

everytime you're online your ISP broadcasts and that shows the location of where you are, not your physical home address, but usually within the same city, which again, is all I was asking for. I didn't ask everyone to put their street address into the map, in fact, I'm not sure you can. just the city and state.

the information on that map is no more exposing you than you are already exposing yourself every time you log onto the forum!

and if you don't want to participate then don't! It's not MANDATORY!!!

freeze - there's no extra information in that map that isn't already available whenever you get on the internet. you've got your forum name and "Georgia" right there in your forum info.

please tell me how that is any different from the map.

again, you're not required to participate. I just don't want you scaring other people off of it because of a non-existent vulnerability that you're claiming. there's nothing on that map that you haven't already revealed by logging in.

My last comment and you can re-read if you like was : "I am making you and everyone realize that you are vunerable by doing this. That's all......"

Don't give out what you don't want someone to know that's what that comment means. I should have defined it better. How's this : "Choose what you let others know wisely because it can be used in a bad way if you aren't carefull".

Beagle it takes very little for someone to do some crazy BS with internet information.

BTW: Who's to say I am really in Georgia. Who cares, but the point is be carefull what information you let people know because there are some bad people out there on the internet and it takes very little for someone to do bad things with very little information.

That's strange - I could understand it if there was something on my own PC remembering me and forgetting you but if I'm still there it must also be something to do with the Frappr site I guess.

Would you be willing to 'refresh' your pushpin by using the 'Edit pin' dialogue to see if I get you back Nutty?
