OT: Hello Forum...

Hi all !

Let me introduce myself. My name is Al and i'm using Cakewalk's CWPA and Sonar for years now (YES, a PAYING customer...upgrades and all)

someone got mad at me last night! i knew we have some "problems" lately but banning me is one step too much.

I had about 4500 posts here on this forum (mostly the Sonar forum... less on the old Coffehouse forum)...
many were quite useful.
until last night. not sure what did i do this time but Mr. Kuper banned me from the Cakewalk forums.
what was the trigger? something i said last night?
shea has anything to do with this? just read the other's comments.. they're right , i didn't mean to start anything (and like Carl said shea dug his hole a long time ago... 20%-40% became a joke but think how much "forum time" it wasted back then)

i do believe that companies shouldn't block users because of some critics by users.. and I DO have the right stay anonymous here on these forums, i want to be able to chat freely here (and i do repect the TOS) without thinking how Cakewalk would treat me if they know who i am when i'm dealing with them..or maybe i'm wrong and we all goto to identify here (and then there's the risk that they'll treat me in a different way when i call tech support or anything that i need from them)

I might use this new login to respond to some threads here in the future...just maybe.. who knows, maybe they just want me to disappear

Al, the not so typical Sonar user

Thanks for the suggestion, i'm afraid it's NOT a technical problem

...i've been kicked out for reporting about some Sonar bugs

You don't seem to be too honest there Al. You may be leaving out a few more details than you want to let on...

Did his offending post get deleted? I just did a search on his posts to see whay he got banned and couldn't find anything that broke the TOS.

Sorry, i don't have the time to sit here and explain stuff - that's one thing ( leaving to work now.. with all the ice here it's not fun)

second, i REALLY don't know if there was a specific post by me that triggeed this ban... i'm still puzzled what happened here and why Ron is so angry - i think it's the bug reports..but i tried to play nice and also give some good comments of course..so not sure what got him so mad.

Al, check your email. Maybe when you read it you won't feel puzzled any more. Let's take this offline.

I guess I should have been more careful then, when I reported the fader grouping functionality which I've never seen used before except in Sonar. I got the boot from the Sony forums quite awhile ago. I think I handled that pretty well though, where myself and another user decided to host our own forums. Now we have more Sony audio users visiting our forum than their own. I guess those 4000+ posts over the years must have helped a few users out. At least in your case it seems like Ron is willing to work things out. Right now I'm busy working on my Vegas to Sonar transistional tutorial to post in the tutorials section in our forum.

Sorry to hear of your problems Al, you've been a great deal of help to many people.

I don't pretend to know the story, or what's going on here, but I do hope that this issue gets resolved soon.

Al was not banned for reporting bugs. There is more to the story than that.

if dr. phil hasn't been indicted yet, i think i'm going to call far an
    intervention ;-)

i have nothing but respect for both Al and Ron. both have been wonderfully
involved in this forum in helping wayward users (like me) sort out problems
and understand how to use Sonar better.

it's a rare thing in the world of DAWs to have a forum like this where so many
experienced users are willing to share their knowledge to everyone from the
guy who just cracked open the disc to pros. not to mention the VP of engineering
from the company that makes our software who actually cares enough about
his product to chime in. i've learned so much from this forum it's just
    amazing.

in that spirit, i hope that Honest_Al will continue to impart his wisdom and
experience upon us and that Ron will continue to help us understand
what's happening inside the box. they're both good guys for sure caught
    up in a people thing.

so, we either do the "dr. phil" .. patented "deal with it and move on" or
the group hug thing ... i'm leaning dr. phil ;-)

Al was not banned for reporting bugs. There is more to the story than that.

So, did he deal with pirated copies of SONAR?
Or is he a beta tester who broke the NDA?
Did it turn out that he's THE troll?
    ...

Seems you better tell us if you want prevent rumours to spread?!

Seriously, I've never ever seen a post by Al that would justify banning him.

Ditto. I miss the "real" Al & his puppy & his emoticons already! And yes, he was often very helpful here. But I'm starting to sound like he's dead, fer cryin' out loud!...

Ron, I kind of wish you hadn't said "There is more to the story than that". That's a bit of a tease, and I think a lot of us are truly sorry and surprised to hear that Al was banned. It must have been something pretty serious, but I hope it was just more of a misunderstanding and that somehow it all works out so we can have him back (the "real" Al). Probably not going to happen, by the sound of it, but I can always hope...!

may we please stop this? all it's going to do is mire this forum down into taking sides
    and guessing/conjecture. it's a negative energy suck.

Well, we all have a right to comment, just as you did! I don't see how it's a "negative energy suck" at all -- I'm sorry Al was banned and said so. No big deal.

"Honest_Al" has not been banned. I didn't mean to tease, I just wanted to balance his statements since he's only presenting his side of the story. The situation is something he and I will discuss in private.
