Can you lot slow down - us old 'uns (46) can't keep up you know.

Update from AWIL - the doctor from London is just visiting 'The Slaughtered Lamb' pub on the moors.

Brian Glover is a star - remember his magnificent cameo in 'Kes'?

bullseye was great... how do u share a fitted kitchen between 2 people... and a speedboat isn't much good if your on the 19th floor of some tower block .. Peter Kaye I think did a sketch about it

I remember they spotted the five pointed star, mark of the wolfman, on the wall of the pub.... Glover tells the "Remember the Alamo" joke ......

A great film, true classic, this scene is repeated by every middle aged man who gets a football at his feet to this day

I have that DVD too!

What a film though - we had to study the book (A Kestrel for a Knave) in English Lit at school. 'Kes' is one of the few films that lives up to the book, not just as a screenplay, but the 'feel', which is an accomplishment indeed.

Update - David just woke up in the wolf enclosure at the zoo.

Peter Cook - A true genius, although at times his treatment of Dudley Moore, particularly in their Derek and Clive phase, bordered on the sadistic, as Dud gamely tried to keep up with Peter but was always outgunned, part of their unique chemistry of course...

Gary you saw the film about Peter Cook ? it was spooky how much Rhys Ifans looked like him. I did see Derek and Clive , the one where Branson turns up in the studio, probably made him a LOT of money.. well that and tubular bells (and don't be fooled by the "I started with nothing" routine... his family before are quite well to do)

Fog, yeah great program that was, I think it was on BBC 3 about a year back if I remember, I bought the Derek and Clive record and got it confiscated when I took it into school, I had to wait until the end of term to get it back, and then it was given to me in a brown paper bag !! I suspect it went round the staff room a few times in the interim...... +1 about Branson, again I can remember his mail order ads for records in the Sounds and Melody Maker way back in the 70's he actually got done for a VAT scam on that one, and now he's a Knight of The British Empire..... as our friends across the pond say, go figure...

Slow down - please.

Film over btw.

Too late for Kes.

Now, Pete and Dud.

I've got 'Ad Nauseam' and 'Derek and Clive Live' on LP (and now on CD) - brilliant stuff.

Plus the 'Derek and Clive get the Horn' DVD.

I'll be here till sunrise you rotten gits.......... bugger off to bed.

friends of mine (who will remain nameless) also got a visit about VAT on their records.. except they made a small but vital error.. the promo's of records are for promotional use and come under a business expense.. so although say they got a certain number of records pressed.. not all of them were for public sale, but for DJ's at radio stations etc.

my friends records (pardon the pun) were all in order and all their payments etc were correct. It was actually a big waste of money.. like the time I got a summons for not paying the poll tax.. which again was wrong, as I was a student, that time £23 wasted..

Your right, he's brilliant, I love his Barry Gibb, especially the mad eyes haha Russell Brand is just plain self-indulgent

EDIT: Oh I forgot, Stevie Riks doing Freddie Mercury as a window cleaner, hilarious...........

he finally got listed on the title page of youtube so that was cool.

First thing I can recall from them was the "Basketball Jones" song and cartoon promo that "Whispering" Bob Harris used to play on the Old Grey Whistle Test back in the mid seventies I think. I was impressed with the fact that they got George Harrison to play guitar on the track........

Yikes Strummy, I cant get away with anything on here !!! Yes I did get chronologically challenged, I still have the remnants of a hangover from last night, I was actually drinking JD/Coke/Ice for our "par-tay" duration. Now I'm fumbling around with my GT-8 searching for the elusive guitar sound. Think I'll stick to the cold beer tonight
