OT: Listen to Neil Young's new album "Livin' With War"

http://www.hyfntrak.com/neilyoung2/AFF23252/

This is not piracy, rather he has made it publicly available to get the message out. The US is being taken over by the neo-conservative agenda.

Q.

"Let's impeach the President for lying/ and misleading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him/and shipping all our money out the door
Who's the man behind all the criminals?/The whitehouse shadows who hide behind closed doors
They bend the facts to fit with their new story/Of why we had to send the troops to war!"

It's a post about music - Neil Young. I heard they considered using Sonar for the record but were forced into using PT by the neo-cons.

This could describe any number of illegal immigrants in this country as well, so perhaps it's not the best defense of ol' Neil. In reality, Neil's complaints about Republicans and conservatives are so predictable, he should seriously consider moving the whole family back to a knee-jerk/left-wing part of Canada. Then, hopefully, I wouldn't have to hear his annoying voice, insipid lyrics and god-awful guitar-solo playing ever again.

    But that's just my opinion.

To be fair, I editted in the "by the neo-conservative agenda" part of the sentence after the first couple of replies asked the same question.

    Bush manipulated intel?

What about the politicans that opposed/oppose Bush did they make it up?

“[Saddam Hussein] has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons
throughout his country.” Vice President Al Gore, September 23, 2002

Clinton's Defense Secretary William Cohen stated in a televised briefing that the “UN believes that Saddam may have produced as much as 200 tons of VX, and this would, of course, be theoretically enough to kill every man, woman and child on the face of the earth....We face a clear and present danger today...."

President Clinton, speaking in February 1998, asked, “What if [Saddam] fails to comply
and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route, which gives him yet more
opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction....Well, he will
conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he
can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction. And some
day, some way, I guarantee you he'll use this arsenal.” “In the next century," Clinton
predicted, “the community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat
Iraq poses now—a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or
provide them to terrorists...who travel the world among us unnoticed.”

In his February 1998 speech, President Clinton warned that “Iraq still has stockpiles of
chemical and biological munitions...and the capacity to restart quickly its production
program and build many, many more weapons.”

    Secretary of State
Madeleine Albright on February 19, 1998 told an audience at Tennessee State that the
world had not seen “except maybe since Hitler, somebody who is quite as evil as Saddam
    Hussein.”

Two million people have been slaughtered in the Sudan. Another six to eight million will be killed according to all estimates.

In parts of the Indonesian archipelago 300,000 East Timorese have been killed since 1975.

Over half a million Chinese have been killed in Indonesia since the 1960’s

    Wars brewing:
    Chinese-Islamic war in East Turkestan @ Sinkiang Province in western China;
    a festering war in the south Philippines focused on Mindanao and Sulu Islands;
a potentially nuclear war between India and Pakistan over Kashmir

These statistcs concern me, but the biggest problem in the world is George Bush. Hmm, sounds like someone is manipulating information..

., of course you are absolutely right in saying there is a lot more crap going on in the world than just GWB. So said, if something like this can act as an agent of awareness to get people to take interest in the wider geo-political state of affairs, then so be it - I am all for it.

As for a link to a Neo-con agenda, have you tried the Project for the New American century? www.newamericancentury.org or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century

16 members of GBW's original administration were/are members of PNAC, including Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz.

I particularly like the report from September 2000 called "Rebuilding America's Defenses" - www.newamericancentury.org/RebuildingAmericasDefenses.pdf - Page 51 (page 63 of the .PDF), "...the process of transformation, [into the new US empire referred to in the preceding 50 pages], even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor."

I think if you track Neil Young's political position from the mid-70's onward, he has been more on the republican side of the fence -- he was certainly a big supporter of Reagan.

His press comments around this album have included a statement where he is at pains to say this is a non-partisan record. As a republican he wants to see Bush and co. kicked out so the party can have a "real" republican representative -- not someone in the pocket of big business.

Listening to this it is obvious that he is extremely angry - and it sounds great. By all means it is that same annoying voice and guitar playing, but this mix is superb!

And only Americans can have an opinion? The record closes with a beautiful, honest choir version of "America, The Beautiful" so he obviously loves the joint... (Obviously loves the joint because a). he chose to record the song itself and b), turned his mic off and let the choir take over... )

    Married an American
    - Has to listen to his wife complain about neo-con agenda
    - Obviously cares about her and by default, her extended family

    Lives in America
    - So is therefore directly affected by the political state of affairs in his place of residence
    - Pays tax in America to contribute to the society

    Kids are both American
    - So he is concerned about the world into which they are growing

I'd say that qualifies him for both the opinion and the right to express it.

I think you will find he votes in the US. Therefore the use of "our" is a correct use of language, not a leftist smoke screen. And instead of inventing smoke haze, you could also have chosen to read the bit where I said -

    Thanks for posting.

Others, I can remember no president that has damaged the US as much the current Bush. We need no enemies on the outside.
They would post ROFLMAO at the pro-Bush post, They being both the current administration, and the "Enemy". One born every minute.

ps as to the mix, I do have a complaint the the bit rate must be the lowest possible, I don't think it would even put a dent in a dial-up connection's bandwidth. Hard to say what it really sounds like.
