OT: Mixing with the Flu
Hey guys, It's the time of the year again and everyone is getting sick around here including myself. Now my ears are so clogged up I wonder how bad it will affect my mixing. I have a project in the final stages with a deadline fast approaching. The week or so it will take for this to pass is a major setback. Anyone here ever have to mix a project in this condition? How were your results? Any chance there is way to help open the ears back up quicker than usual? Thanks, Eric

yeah -- well trying to work with our ears clogged up sucks hairy a$$.......but if you are serious about the question take some decongestant -- hope for the best -- check mix with head phones remix when your not sick-- delay the mix until your better.... -- what else can you do?.......I know the people are beta testing a drug for helping mix songs when you have the flu...but hasnt been approved by the FDA yet

I hope the new drug doesn't take all the fun out of it. I was recording for fun late last week with a cold, and some night-time cold medicine, and thought everything sounded GREAT... listened later and understood fully some of my early life musical taste...

Hey guys, Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the subject. Clogged ears do suck bad! I've just been waiting it out and playing lots of DOD:Source (WWII online shooter) I sit here moving my jaw around all weird ways and inducing yawns trying to get my ears to open. Once in while it works but they are still not 100%. I estimate another 3-4 days minimum. Thanks again, Eric

If you have the flu...go to bed rest. playing games, recording etc is something you can't do with the flu. You probably have a heavy annoying cold, whatever it is drink fluids, rest and let your body repair

I estimate another 3-4 days minimum. One year I had a really bad case of the flu and it took about 2 months before my ears went back to normal (along with sinus and lungs... too much info...?). I was kinda freaking out about it too, wondering if they were permanently screwed up. But I went to the audiologist and had them checked out and all was well. Here's hoping you get better soon!
