Allen, I've been trying to reproduce your problem, and haven't been able to. I can load 16 voices fine here. It doesn't seem to matter which outputs I use, they can all be on one output or all on different outputs. They can all be on the same MIDI channel or different. I haven't been able to crash it.

I would suggest contacting IK tech support, on that one.

I keep my word...

So at this moment I have five - count 'em - five instruments, all on outputs 1&2 in S.Tank LE. Dare I go for six? I checked my preferences, and I have outputs set up to 7&8, but this doesn't affect anything because all my instruments are on 1&2?

Still trying to understand this stuff better. But I'm having no trouble with five instruments. The one "bug" I get consistently is sticking notes. Very random, though. I just clear the instrument out and use something else. But when it's working it seems to work well.

Update: I went for six, and it's still working fine!

I had the same issue (weird sticking notes) in ST2 XL. Getting updated to the latest patch fixed it. Maybe there's a similar patch for ST2 LE.

BUMP!

2 New Q's:

I can only seem to get my keyboard to play Channel 1. I've tried messing with the Input Channel numbers for the Oxygen on the different midi tracks, but nothing's worked. I'm missing something, obviously.

About the FX: The manual says there are five fx slots: one always eq/comp, one fully adjustable, and then the other three can be played but not adjusted. Well, I got the first two, but that's it. The little triangles aren't lit up to click on for fx 3-5. They are in the manual, though! What gives?

TIA gang!

oh, Losguy - couldn't find any updates for LE. oh well; it hasn't happened in a while.

jamester. You still fooling with that thing. There is a little place by the patch that lets you pick the MIDI channel. And you got to have that channel picked in the Sonar track. Make sense? I got mine working acceptable. Let me know whats happening, maybe I can help from Gplayers point of reality...................JDW

Try setting the midi in on your midi track (in Sonar) to "all inputs omni" This will allow the track to recieve on any channel you send out of the Oxygen.

One of the limitations of LE is that the user can only control two effects. You need to get the full L or XL engine to be able to assign more than two effects yourself. It does however allow 5 effects to be used, if the sound your using has 5 effects assigned to it from the "factory".

Jamester, here's a templet you can use to get an idea of how to set up Sampletank LE. I put some further instructions in the info file. HTH

I put it on auditorium.

Your welcome johndale. Go to where you unpacked it, and open the file. It should open automatically in Sonar. Then go to File/Info, and follow the instructions there. All you need to do once it's loaded into Sonar, is assign some sounds in Sampletank. It's basically an 8 voice templet with 8 midi channels, and 8 stereo audio outputs, (one audio output for each voice) It's all set to load whatever 8 voices you want into Sampletank, and run them each on a separate midi channel. If you have any more questions, fire away.

BTW, you need to have Sampletank LE, I think to use this one. I'll make one for the full engine, and post that soon.

Thanks Harmony. I guess I should have looked closer at the unpacked .rar . I'm gonna go see what you gave me. I been doing pretty well with ST. Most of it is quite self-explanatory jamester if you read the manual. Thanks again, I'll be back shortly if I have any questions...................JDW.

Real quick-

Thanks again Dale, I'll check this all out tonight. I thought I had everything going perfectly last time, so this midi keyboard thing's really stumped me.

As for the fx, I guess it all depends on what's loaded in? I have yet to load any instrument that makes the triangles for fx 3-5 light up, but I'll keep trying. It's really not a big deal, I just want to make sure everything's working right. (or should I say, "That I'm working things right.")

JD: I re-read the manual last nite - I swear! I really like S.Tank, it's the only sampler that's made sense to me. It really is easy and pretty intuitive; the 'problems' I'm having are from my lack of understanding things. I re-tried to play with V-Sampler again last night, and gave up pretty quickly - as usual. I really dig S.Tank.

I am planning on getting Battery2, and the Bass Collection for S.Tank. This should give me everything I need for rhythm sections. Sometimes I just click with things right off, as far as knowing I like them.

RE: OT: Quick Sampletank LE Question 2005/05/27 01:04:35 (permalink)
I do find mine works better as a VST tho, something I learned on my own. But that could just be my system

JD, could you expand on this? The only bug I've had is that random sticking note I mentioned earlier, but I think that happens with either DX or VST.

I was planning on installing the new stuff as DX only, since that's what Sonar prefers, right? No need to have the same thing under both menus. Any thoughts from anyone?

I run it as a DX, and have never had a problem. I never tried the VST version, though. I can't imagine it would run any better than perfect. The only limitation I have found is that I need to use the TenCrazy MIDI Sustain fix to get my sustain pedal to work properly. I use some vinatge keyboards as controllers.

Hi Harmony,

I had problems with the Sampletank 2.0XL DXi version.

I I was looping x measures in Sonar 4PE, it I help a sustained note through one pass of the loop (just playing not recording), it would suddenly decide to play of it's own accord on a later pass, I has the stuck notes issue so now use the VST version only...I still think there are some minor frustrations, but there is nothing I can't live with.

I'm sure there is a modicum of user error on my part though whe using multiple instuments etc etc.

Cheers

Spence
