I uploaded .wav files, 16 at 44.1
I think one could upload higher with a fast connection. It times the upload. You have 15 minutes to load.
There is a limit on how many contest per month...3 I think. Sorry I don't have much info about site. Been busy...
I entered the files that were handy. Over time I'll probably enter everything for the fun.
I think the tunes are going down in rank with the new plays. I think it's a voting type setup so if one doesn't vote when tune played it may send it down...I don't know.
Whatever's happening is cool- all part of the fun. I know I played two other's material and "thumbs" were at the top of player so I give them 3 thumbs up. But if your listening don't worry about what's happening...the option for us to use higher quality files may be the "winning" part of this site.
Being able to upload .wav is very cool. You guys got to hear what I hear...recorded at 24, 48. but still...not that much difference.
I tried that but it timed out on me. My service a little to slow for that.
Stay cool all,
Mike
I've read trying to understand the different settings for file quality and we all know there's been plenty said. Ears are the final judge.
In this case I feel like those of you reading this and notice the difference should know the details.
The same (stereo) 24 bit 48. file was used for both uploads. The difference's being:
For mixposure it was rendered to a MP3 at 192kbps. using Vegas Pro 8. (I've paid for the license before Cake)
For ourstage it was exported out of Sonar to a 16 bit 44.1 .wav
I can personally hear the difference between these two. I wish I had a faster connection speed to see if a 24 bit 48 could be uploaded.
I think I could upload a 320 kbps MP3 at ourstage and if I had a premium account, at mixposure as well. Then difference could be heard.
The way I hear it...a MP3 at 192kbps does not sound as good as 16 bit 44.1 .wav. IMHO
