OT: This Forum's Search Engine Stinks!
These fora have a wealth of information, but unfortunately no one can get to it because the search engine stinks. Its really a shame that a software company like Cakewalk can't have a decent search engine for its customers to use.

I stopped using the search engine years ago. Use google instead. I've found information in other places in the cakewalk.com domain that the forum search wouldn't have located even if it worked well.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Hi Dave- Yes, it's awful. It usually picks July as a start month, for some unknown reason. Like bitflipper, I use Google. There are several formats that work. Out of habit, I use: <search phrase> site:forum.cakewalk.com -Susan

Funny how this topic comes up every few weeks, and nothing ever happens about it ... Just venting a bit.

I love it when the search pulls ups posts that have partial parts of the words you included====search for "high pass" and you get posts with words like "himself" or "passenger"

Hi, It's the precursor to the product going down hill ... the peripherals start getting cheaper and worse and eventually the main product does ... you know, eventually the slob and the cheap in many of us slips through ... no matter how hoard we try to paint, advertise and color ... and use perfume or deodorant or after shave!

Well at least true to Cakewalk form there is a "work around." Is seems that without work around's nothing would work. Mike

I've been on many websites where they proudly state that their site search is 'Powered by Google' - I'm guessing that it just saves you adding the <site:forum.cakewalk> condition to your search terms? Couldn't the Bakers set this up for us I wonder, or would it cost too much to be associated directly with Google?

Use the link at the bottom of the page, send a message to the web-dude. [size=3 font="times new roman"] A support guy at the org that publishes the forum software wrote to me that the reason for the lack of reasonable search results is the indexes are not being properly tended. [size=3 font="times new roman"] So, everyone should send messages to the web-dude and the feature request recipients. [size=3 font="times new roman"] I doubt they will ban us all for spamming. [size=3 font="times new roman"] J [size=3 font="times new roman"] ======================= As we get older, the phrases, "I don't remember," and "I don't know," become, not only more applicable, they also become more plausable responses to every question."

You appear to be quite the wit Mr Strummer. Mind you, daveny5 seems an OK kind of chap to me. I look forward to exchanging much humorous banter and slapstick asides with him over the coming months.

daveny5 is alright in small doses. He twice called me an idiot. "Dave" I retorted, "I heard you the first time"
