Both Republicans and Democrats raise taxes equally. The only difference is that Rebublicans never admit to it. "read my lips, no new taxes" Forget taxes. Vote based on who plays a meaner guitar.

Oh yeah, party line position on war. "Illegal and Immoral", "10 billion per month", right off the moveon.org website. Obama campaigned on a "bring the troops home immediately" platform in the primary. "The surge wouldn't work." , "General Betray-us" You'll get that Iraq pullout right after you get your obama tax-cut. "After speaking with the troops on the ground, we are going to keep some forces in Iraq to stabilize the region." Just wait & watch. This will be the worst case of voter's remorse in recent history. The hangover will start around dec 2010 when you are filling out your 1040's.

Or, if not a guitar contest, at least a Buddy Rich style drum showdown. oh, i have a hard time blaming GHWB for that tax increase, after all the president only signs the budget. it originated in a democrat controlled congress. Surely he should have vetoed it but look what being non-partisan got him.... criticized by the very people who handed him the bill in the first place.

CNN and CBS do not choose the president, nor do Al Gore's team of lawyers and "ballot interpreters". GWB won the initial count, won the automatic recount, won a second recount, and that was the end of it. Florida supreme court only said "no more recounts". There is no provision to keep recounting ballots until the result is different. I wonder what you mean about the 2004 elections, Bush won by a wider margin and actually got over 50% of the vote which Clinton never did. It was no landslide but a clear win.

Yeah, we don't get any news on euro elections at all except one of the public channels has a German news program on occasionally. Even the Canadian politic is largely ignored by USA news outlets.

I hate to sound so pessimistic but all politicians are in it for themselves and their special interests, not for us. It always amazes me how intelligent people can fall for all the pre-election rhetoric hook, line, and sinker. In my opinion, neither candidate is a good choice. But, each party will defend their candidates obvious weaknesses just to protect the interests of the party. I'm sorry to say it is not about helping the people, it's about power and greed. At least we can vote our choice. Just don't rely only on the rhetoric, do your own investigation and vote what will be best for the country as a whole. My 2cents

Voted at 10:30am. One person in front of me if you want to call one person a line. Four people at the voting stations while I was signing in and it was just me and the guy in front of me while I filled out a paper ballot (scan type). The whole thing took less than 5 minutes. It boggles my mind to think that so many people have to wait for hours to vote. I live in Southern California in a very densely populated area and I was in and out so quickly.

I think it's naive to suggest that increasing taxes for anyone will solve anything. If you give the government more money, they'll just spend it. I look at government as an irresponsible 20 year with his first credit card. Spend spend spend, then take a cash advance to pay your credit card bill, then spend spend spend, then open a new credit card and transfer the balance from your old one, then spend spend spend, then another cash advance, then more spending, and so on... At some point, you've used up all your borrowing power, and no one wants to give you money, and your loan shark (China) doesn't want to buy your bad debt anymore. So, at some point he'll either get his kneecaps whacked or he can can cut up the credit cards and get his spending under control.
