OT: but significant

The Large Hadron Colider, they turn it on tomorrow? And it "could" destroy the world by creating a black hole :-)

The LHC rap:

Tomorrow they are running Protons in one direction only. Later they will run the protons in the other direction. Last I heard it will be at least a month before they run them at each other and collide them. This is truly an exciting time to be alive. We will sonn know if the "God" particle exists.

As to creating a black hole, protons don't have enough mass regardless of how fast they are traveling to create a black hole.

But those protons will be moving at a good clip.

The collider is 17 miles around and the protons will make 11000 revolutions per second. Damn that's fast.

    Exciting stuff!!

It's all very exciting, and scary at the same time. I'm a big fan of fiziks, I like to know how stuff works? But this machine (doomsday machine) still scares me "just a little".

That's interesting. I have never before heard anybody express fear of a particle accelerator. Understandable to some degree I guess. I think its very cool and should provide some valuable new information. I had not thought much of the danger as its not like were dealing with anything at critical mass.

When they fire this thing up it "could be" our last day on earth... Perhaps part of the master plan? I'd like to finish a few more songs first, I have some really good ones that need to be heard b4 the end of days.

    Shad

Everytime there is a Particle accel. being started up, there are people that go to court to try to stop it. This time is no different. There is a group of people here in the states trying to stop the P.A. in Europe thru the US court system. I guess if you are dumb enough to try to stop a P>A> then you are dumb enough to go to the courts in the wrong country.

ok - just for arguments sake, let's suppose a black hole DID form out of them firing up the PA tomorrow (not that I believe it will...I'm just saying for argument's sake).

IF a black hole started forming out of the PA no one would have TIME to even broadcast it on the news before it swallowed the earth up and snuffed the human race out of existance. so......why worry? you won't even know about it if it DOES create a black hole!!!

Yeah, we're all going to check out. That is one thing we ALL have in common... I don’t care what you agree with, or do not, we’re all going there :-) We’re all taking a dirt nap… My point was that we could ALL be taking that nap AT THE SAME TIME! If they fire that thing up, and it creates a black hole (not a miniature black hole, but a real one…)

It may make your songs (and mine?) "less significant?"

Oh yeah, congradulations on your GOLD membership. As far as I know, I still have a bronze member.

Well it has been fired up now and we're all still here (dang it! - I was curious what it would be like for my molecules to be accelerated to light speed inside a black hole ).

I hand cuffed myself to the bed to keep from being sucked in just in case... It was an embarasing call to 911 when the black hole didn't form.. Cuffed to the bed again Robby? Yeah, but this time it's for different reasons!

Too bad we just can't focus the black hole event on the CRAP parts of the world.

The Bad News is...the Earth was destroyed...

The Good News though, we've all shifted to another dimension which is identical to the one we came out of so nobody noticed. How cool was that?

Robby, You are really wacked out on this partical thing. My last song, Space Party, we went through the black hole, around the moon at 22,000 miles an hour and then stopped at the space station for a cocktail. All of a sudden they started that machine up and poof I'm right back at my computer. Wow, what a rush that was. We're all still here, so play those songs before they start it up again. Enjoy!! John
