it would be kind of cool if there was an interface to insert your own effects onto an individual element.
It is possible & “kind of cool†is an understatement. The hidden power of Dimension is outrageous.
However, there is currently no interface to do what you mentioned…
Instead, what you need to do is edit the multisample (i.e. sfz file) you're loading into the element and specify the effect type that you desire and the required parameters. You can also setup CC automation so that you can tweak the effects settings on the fly. This will come in handy if you don't want to reload/edit/reload/edit that sfz file a thousand times or more will working on a track.
Here's an example (a 4-pole low-pass filter that formed part of that 16-pole filter example René posted a while back…):
<effect>
directtomain=100
type=filter
filter_type=lpf_4p
filter_cutoff_oncc2=12700
filter_resonance_oncc3=10 It should be clear that CC2 controls the cutoff frequency and CC3 controls the resonance.
A little birdy tells me that ALL the parameters for ALL of Dimension's effects can controlled in this way, it's just that René hasn't explained how yet (the docs will come one day, surely).
Oh, also, as in René's example, the
<effect> blocks can be chained and the order that they appear in the sfz file also describes the signal path (in serial).
So, basically what I'm trying to say is that it'd probably be better to wish for full documentation fo the the sfz spec rather than a custom plug from René!
