OT need help

a friend of mine just installed 8.5 and asked me a queston for shich I am stumped. As I'm working in Sonar if I put my "pointer" over any incon (i.e. record, snap to grid, Fit to Project Window, Scrub tool, etc.) it shows me in writting what the button does. On his set up it doesn't do that and I've hunted and pecked (in the manual, on-line and using the help topics) and still don't really know how to turn that option on/off as mine has always worked.

Any help would be great here!!

    Options > Global > General Tab > make sure you have checked "Show Tool Tips". It should be the first one on the list.
