Observation about SonarX2 and Audio Interfaces

-First- this is not a gripe. I posted what I could spend on an audio interface for my laptop, got the focusrite Scarlett 8i6.
It works OK-but until I figure out how to actually have 4 mono outputs (the other 2 are spdif whatever) some what limited.
Yes, technically speaking 6 outs, but really?

Anyway my daw I use Echo Layla3G-actually has all the ins and outs it claims.

But here is the observation-The audi is justinferior to the AEcho Layla3G, but I guess that's to be expected.

I mean would I have to go up to the RME Babyface to get the same audio quality?

The laptop and desktop are so similar that that is not the difference. Booth i7's, both plenty ram, both 2GB Nvidea cards, etc, etc
Both have 7200rpm HDs int.

Is it the drivers or the converters or both? and the USB 2.0?

Anyway-my first experience really comapring anything to the Echo Layla3G-except my old M audio 2496 which was a no brainer.

EDIT: I can return the Scarlett if I want to-Now this has everthing-more expensive of course-more than double actually.

    Hey Star

It is a complicated mixer-Almost like you have to route to the monitor which means you use the monitor volume pot. That is dumb IMHO. Could be me

    Anyway, I'll try that.

Just pan hard L & R on both -OK
    Thanks
    Try tomorrow

BTW-It's fine for the gig Thursday-

I am sure it's OK-The obsevation was\is that you get what you pay for-I definitely "hear" the difference bewtween the Focusrite $249.00 and the Echo Layla3G $499 in my desktop daw. Which I understand
    Thanks

    Hey Strat,

If you hear a difference between the USB unit and the PCI Echo unit, it's definitely not the bus (USB vs. PCI).
The difference you hear is the A/D D/A.
The Babyface sounds great... and has a lower noise-floor than the Echo units.
But factoring in the cost ($749), you'd expect that to be the case.

The Echo Layla 3G has an average noise floor of ~-105dB.
The Babyface has an average noise-floor of ~-110dB.

    Best Regards,
