Odd noises while using SoftSynths

Sorry for the noob question in this particular forum, but it truly seemed the best place for it.  Upgraded to X1, started using the soft synths to check my set up (Axiom 25 key MIDI, Studio V-20) and noticed an odd noise when playing.  Regardless of the synth, anytime a key is held down, the synth sound as well as a rhythmic click could be heard and the click faded with the sound of the synth.  Any ideas?  Running Win7 Home on a laptop...

Almost sounds like some kind of sample-looping glitch. Does it happen with non-sample-based "true" synthesizers like the bundled Pentagon or PSYNII?

What buffer size are you running under Preferences > Audio > Driver Settings, and does it help to raise it?

try adjusting your midi backing knob or your direct monitoring knob on the v-studio 20.
