Offset mode should come with a warning.
"Enter offset mode? Y/N"
Would stop me from getting angreyed when I realize it's been on for the last hour without me knowing :(

Re-assign the O hotkey to something else (or to "Do Nothing"), and map a key combo to Offset that's less likely to get hit inadvertently.

Exactly what I did with the perishing thing. I have the O key now bound to: Set Loop To Selection. And I agree that it should actually be quite 'difficult' to switch to offset mode.

On entering offset mode I want my DAW to vibrate much like my phone does when set to silent. But I couldn't find this feature listed under keyboard shortcuts… Strange that! Re-assign “O” to "Do Nothing" Re-assign "offset mode” to “Ctrl+Alt+O”
I have empirical evidence this is true... (Bender told me!) Yeah changing the key binding is a good idea. Ideally though, it should send my cellphone a verification code via text which I then enter into a dialog (twice to verify). If all goes well I should be free to enter my SSN to unlock offset mode.

I have had the problem too. The key binding seems to be the whole trouble. No key binding no problem.

I used to hit 'O' accidentally a lot because I have the adjacent keys all bound to single strokes: P=PRV; I=Show Inspector; K=Lock Clip Position; L=Loop On/Off. Obviously, I still hit the wrong key/s now, but slipping into Offset Mode unnoticed seems to be the worse of all possible mistakes.

I had that happen once when sonar first came out and it stumped me for almost 20 minutes. that hasn't happen again since. I do find it amusing however when users complain of sonars new automation features being broken until they find out its a feature :)

I haven't looked at Offset Mode since upgrading from Sonar 7. I presume that it has not changed and is still indicated by not-very-prominent little "+" sign. Certainly something "rude" would help. I also believe that Offset Mode would be more useful if it was per track rather than for the whole project.

I have more problems with "Q", because it's right next to "W". More than once I've selected all tracks and hit rewind in preparation for an export, and accidentally muted every clip in the project. No big deal, jut hit Q again - unless you already had a few muted clips!

Kev999, I don't think there's any problem with the implementation as long as you intend to use it. It's kinda like routing a heap of tracks to a bus and lowering the fader on the bus. Personally, I would like a red flag warning when I switch to the mode so I don't wind up in it unintentionally. I'm not sure the best way to let me know which items have been modified using the offset mode. Perhaps when I touch the control it turns red? When I touch a related envelope? I don't know. I used it correctly in the last couple of weeks and it is useful.

My problem seems to be with "E" I go to hit "R", then "ctrl+Z" (a common occurrence) enough times, then I wonder why everything sounds so different. It took me ages to suss.. I'm not alone, I feel.

I think a more useful command should be assigned to "O" by default. " Online | User's Forum" for instance.

I guess I will have to bug up key binding - I have the 'O' key set to: "Fetch me grog, woman!", but it doesn't seem to work on Windows 8. I suppose I can just forget about it, as after a night of trying to get it to work, she left. (the ultimate performance enhancement, perhaps?) Bob Bone

Best television show ever! Have you seen the updated version? It's called Wentworth Prison and it features all the same characters, just set in the present.
