Ok, Our first tune........ Son of the South
Here is our closest to completion tune. It is ready for mixing, and maybe a few copy/paste thingys. The drums are programmed, I'm playing bass and producing/engineering. John writes, sings, and plays the guitars. So there is no filtering, or eq as yet, just what Sonar does with an export audio.... https://soundcloud.com/charlyg/son-of-the-south

Once you get the levels right this will be great song Charly. I do not hear any real EQ problems yet. Maybe the snare could use just a smidge of ooomph. Seems just a tad thin. But that may be a personal taste thing. Great start Charly.

I think I would like to try applying filters to the kick and the bass to see if I can make them more distinct. And Interestingly, I thought it was the kick that was "thin"!

I listened to the first version linked in the OP but I am being asked to sign in for the new link. Nice original song. Well done Charly

Yeah, sort of... I'm not used to dropbox. Most peeps that put stuff on dropbox here somehow get the link to play the audio file directly in the browser (I use Chrome). Your top link behaves like that, but the next link asks me to create a dropbox account. However, what I didn't notice is, if I click on the download link, it downloads the file to my PC. I didn't try that before because I backed out of the process as soon as I saw the pop-up window asking me to sign up. So might be user error on my part... Sounding pretty good to me

Good song! I can picture this included on a number of southern rock albums. Definitely worth the time and effort.

Here is our latest version. I still need to add a crash(the shimmer thingy) at the end of the solo, and 2 crashes at the end of the song.....although we may fade. Nuff for now. It's getting closer, but still work needed. https://soundcloud.com/charlyg/son-of-the-south

Nice and Southern, for sure. Got a bit of Lynrd S. in your approach, for sure. Nice guitar separation. Only the drums sound a little canned, but the guitars are great. I like that they're not perfectly tuned. You have the mix balanced pretty darn good for a first time out. Excellent - keep 'er going, boss. ~ F.R.

So, have you started the EQ/compression part of mixing yet, because this most recent version still sounds very thin? Recording sounds pretty good, so I think this will sound great when you're done mixing. Right now, except for some cymbals and toms, everything is right down the middle, and there are no effects or reverbs yet that I can hear. Regards, Dan
