Ol' Dog trying to learn a new trick.

When using a midi controller to trigger soft synths (Dimension Pro) each note has a second note or a ghost note produced in the track. The Event list shows the second note to have a duration of zero or 60 tics duration. What am I doing wrong? Help an ol' dog out, please.

It sounds like you need to turn LOCAL CONTROL to OFF on your midi keyboard controller settings.
Can't quite remember the logic of why you can get dupe notes in that scenario but someone cleverer than me may pitch in...

Local control would produce duped audio output, but not duped MIDI events. My guess is the controller has both USB and MIDI DIN connections to the DAW, and track input is set to Omni.

If a controller has both USB and MIDI ports, you should connect only one or the other. My preference is to use MIDI DIN connections if the MIDI ports are on your audio interface, as you somewhat are less likely to get MIDI/Audio sync weirdness with one piece of hardware providing both.

Thanks, Uncleswede. My M Audio Keystation Pro 88 has no internal sounds and the manual has no info on local control. But I think you are onto something. There could be a MIDI loop due to me utilizing the external MIDI in along with the USB out. I'll bet that's it! Will check it out when I get home. I'll let you know.

Right you are Brundlefly! Thanks to you and Uncleswede, I pulled my head out of my ass. It was a MIDI loop! I'm not worthy!
