Bob, you nailed this.  It takes me back to high school when I played in a big horn band, doing exactly this style of music.  Happy New Year to you, as well.

Thanks a lot Lynn, that's exactly what I was going for. I loved all that old Stax/Volt and Atlantic stuff. I really appreciate the listen and the comment!

Thanks Dodsie, I'm finally learning to play the bass with my fingers instead of a pick, gives it a lot better "rounder" sound I think....

Tim, thanks so much. Wow, haven't thought about Sons of Champlin in a while, need to revisit them, I liked them a lot. Got a new CD coming soon?

Thanks for the listens and comments guys, much appreciated!

    Thanks Shad, muchly appreciated.

I went to your page on the Composers Forum and listened to some of your work. Very unique and interesting. I liked the layering of sounds in Dragonfly.
Six Inches From The Mic has a really nice groove and I've always liked spoken word pieces, this was cool.
My favorite that I listened to was God Made Me Do It. It's part of a series, right? A novel that you're writing with a song for each chapter? Terrific idea. This piece sounded very theatrical to me, I liked it a lot.

Thanks again for the listen and comment!

Nice, it really captures the vibe of those old stax records, but the production here is clearer. Good job.

Cool track. Not big on the vocals but the instrumentation is great. I really like those horns especially. Where did you find those horn sounds at or did you hire brass players?

Absolutely spot-on for the genre and period, this really has that Stax vibe. Love that guitar riff and tone, the horns, drums..all perfect.

The horns are Native Instruments Session Horns, played with Kontakt 5. Session Horns is a fairly new NI sample set, this is the first time I've used it. It has a really nice set of parameters you can use to adjust voicing etc.

    Chandler, James, and Frank...

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it, I had a ball doing it, really takes me back to my younger days. I grew up on this kind of stuff.

    Thanks again!

Really liked this. Its groovy, the instrumentation is really well played, especially the guitars and the horns.

The vox are good, but they don't for a better word, stand out. They are almost just like another instrument in the mix. Which is fine, the song is what it is and I like it.

Really nice job on this one, Rob.  You definitely captured the essence of the genre, and the horn section was outstanding.

This is really cool!  Those horns sound great, as well as the guitars, vocals, and all.  Nicely done!
