Maybe the building was attacked by angry mobs of musicains demanding drivers! The server was destroyed by pouring Jack Daniels in the power supply fan. I didn't know they had a forum,, guess everything has a forum, Is there a forum for doorbells? possibly a shoe polish forum? Any how , I like my Tascam us1641 now I have W7 64 bit it is behaving very well. And I have never had issues with any of the many recorders and tape machines I used in the not to distant analog days. Let's just hope it's a makeover to something better.

Good riddance! I hope they’re closed for good. I can’t believe they lasted as long as they did. I was one of the first 100 members and a moderator for a while. Terry (trtjazz) is the biggest ass and dumbass I have ever met. The site started sometime after Tascam closed its official forums in 2003, but it was never even close. Most of the material was stolen from other sites and yet they had the gall to start charging a fee at one point. Nearly all the info that was on tascamforums can be found in older forums where it originated.

Well, that last post seems unnecessarily nasty, but welcome to the Forum. I bought a Tascam FW-1884 and discovered the Tascam User Forum in 2004. It has been invaluable for me and I was proud to contribute both money and info. Together with others, especially OP Tom Deering, we were successful in convincing Tascam to release the Frontier Design drivers we needed for Windows 7 64-bit and SONAR when no one else would help. Our documentation helped many users for many years. I will always be extremely grateful that forum existed.

Hi Tom. I also could have hosted the info temporarily, although it might be in violation of my terms of service to open it up to others. I have my sites on Host Baby, a division of CD Baby who sells my CD. They probably would not look favorably on an equipment forum. I also would contribute more if needed to reinstate the forum.

DeeringAmps Well the Tascam Forums have been dark for a couple of days now. Does anyone have contact info for the forum owner? DrWho? Isn't that what he called himself? Tom hi tom, i believe we have talked in the past on the tascam forum ... (mark v) yes the tascam site is down. the forum owner, bruce deirdorn (sp), passed away recently. rip bruce ... there was talk of keeping the site alive but somehow it has gone dark. hopefully some of the other moderators/interested parties will pick up the ball and keep it running. the $4 charge for being a member was more than fair considering the amount of help it provided me, and others, thoughout the past 6 years that i have been a member. just keep an eye out for a restart ... somebody will care enough to reinstate the site. there are many of us patiently awaiting. sincerely mark v sx1guy ...

And they wanted to charge for what was freely available elsewhere. I was Tascamforums member #80 and one of the first moderators. After I quit the forum my posts continued to be stolen from other sites without credit. Terry tried to pressure Tascam into funding the site. Tascam got so disgusted with their tactics they removed Tascam forums from their list of recommend music forums. Teac/Tascam also received complaints from forum members about mistreatment due to terry’s behavior. Many people thought they were on a Tascam company site, because up until 2003 Tascam did maintain a forum at Tascam.com. If you want to reach Tascam experts from the pre-2003 company forum most of us are at homerecording.com in the Tascam or Analog section. Thanks for the welcome. P.S. RIP Bruce. He was ill for a long time and the problems with the site were not his doing.

I paid the small fee to tascamforums, but didn't get much from browsing there. By the way, is homerecording owned by the same people? I noticed a topic at gs that mentioned when tascamforums goes down, homerecording does too. I just visited homerecording and clicked the "Cakewalk" area there, then "panning question".. and sure enough, the site then crashes out. This is my first post here by the way. I used Cakewalk dos in the old old days and sort of checked out after I bought pro audio 8 and 9.

I've moved 50% away from my FW-1884. I've recently added an RME Fireface UFX as my audio interface. I do use my FW-1884 as surface controller still, but I expect that by 2013 I'll have a different surface controller. I hope to get $500 for my FW-1884 by then. It had a good run though.

Beck, I don't know the exact scenarios that you may have faced with Terry and Tascam Forums, but I have to say that tascamforums was a HUGE resource for me too. HUGE! I got so much direct help there (especially from RedBus and some others) and I was more than happy to contribute my under $10 fee to help support the forum. I will forever be grateful that the forum existed. When I did internet searches, I always ended up at tascamforums. In fact, I had no idea that there was a Tascam forum over at homerecording.com (which I will gladly be involved with now). There are always two sides of the story to every situation. From my perspective, the only thing I see wrong with what you have explained so far is the fact that text was copied from one forum to another with the idea that it was original text. While I agree that it would be completely wrong to do that, I would want to examine the evidence before drawing conclusions. If this was the case, I could see tascamforums trying to be helpful by consolidating useful information to one forum. Although, they really should have stated the original sources. I never saw anything wrong with the membership fee. It costs money to host a forum and I don't see anything wrong with asking people to contribute to help share the costs. I also wouldn't see it wrong for the owner of the forum to make money off of the forum if he was putting lots of his time and effort into developing the forum. Regarding pressuring Tascam to help fund the forum. I'm 100% completely annoyed that Tascam wouldn't be wise enough to run their own forum. It is absolutely ridiculous that others would have to pick up the slack and support costs for a company and create a forum for them. Tascamforums probably saved Tascam 10's of $1000's of dollars in support costs. They kept me from calling in on their support lines and tying up their support staff with redundant questions. So why wouldn't it be reasonable for Tascam to pick up the slack? I'm not trying to disagree with you here or discredit the fact that you may rightfully be disgusted with TascamForums, but I know I will have a harder time finding information I need about my DM3200 because TascamForums is out of commision. But like I said, I will gladly give homerecording.org a shot and I look forward to reading your posts. It sounds like you have done a ton to contribute to that forum.

Beck And they wanted to charge for what was freely available elsewhere. . The fact of the matter is that Tascamforums was always free to read, so no information was ever being charged for. The $4.00 membership fee was charged in order to have posting privleges and that only because people chose to make sock puppet identities and started posting troll posts and porno to the site in an effort to bring it down. As much as those folks liked to disrupt things they didn't hate the forum bad enough to pay $4.00 every time they had a new identity banned from the site. Member #52 here, a moderator throughout the entire lifespan of Tascamforums and an original participant in the Tascam bulletin board.

Well the last post stated the truth whether unnecessary or not. Sometime people hava a legit gripe.. We all got forced into PayPaling Terry to keep the forum open. This was a while back and Terry pissed off almost the entire forum with his tantrums. Just wanted to set the record straight. Glad to see that the forum went on to help some people. It was a great place the 1st couple of years.

It is hard to sort through the information and of course, there aren't specific sections such as DM3200-DM4800 and etc.

Was a faithful member of this VERY USEFULL FORUM , and was happy to contribute ! They saved me a lot of time , knowing the support for X48 in Europe is a disaster !! If it happens you know another serious site about Tascam, please let me know ! I use this message to ask a new question I was ready to put on Tascam forum : @font-face { font-family: "Arial"; }@font-face { font-family: "MS 明朝"; }@font-face { font-family: "Cambria Math"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial; }.MsoChpDefault { font-family: Cambria; }div.WordSection1 { page: WordSection1; } TASCAM X48 DOESN'T RECOGNIZE USB KEYS Dear friends, I call again for help! Brand USB NEYS : Emtec, PConKey CIBOX ,are not recognized by my X48 (Only a small mark key unknown in the U.S. I believe: SIGMA, opens smoothly in X48). Also, when I switch off and back on the X 48 with one of these keys connected, the OS and the session do not open. I have a window called "System Configuration", with all the information on hard drives, memory etc, and I can not do anything with keyboard or mouse,on it. I mounted these keys on my MacBook Pro without problem, to verify, they are all well .. FAT 32, and I have recorded an audio file on. Not always go up on the X48. the height of The climax of the story is that I formatted one in a Tascam SSCDR-200, and it is not recognized by the X-48! Unbelievable, but typically Tascam! Note that I have the X-48 with its native version 1.20, and my 2 external hard drives La Cie (with Firewire), are recognized without any problems. So the question is: - Do you have a combination you ,to force USB drives to get on the X 48 ... (I opened Disk Manager .. nothing) - What can make a USB KEY not being recognized (except having the bad format allocation)? (X48 should recoginize FAT 32 I guess?) I'm Really annoyed ,not being able to open USB Keys of my clients in my x48, can you imagine? Bye And thank you for having reading me

Is it possible to register as a new user? Or is it just a clone of the old site? BR Kristoffer

Whoever put up the old forum database at the .co domain is simply ripping people off. They are collecting a $4 registration fee for membership to a dead forum, and the money goes to an anonymous Paypal account. People register, post a question, and then discover that there is nobody there to answer. Then those people come to our site upset that they paid a donation for something that was free. Tom, can you please remove the links to that site from your posts? I think a lot of these folks are directed there from your links.
