I am one of those guys that started with Cakewalk when it was Twelve Tone Systems and there was only midi. Those were great days but I can't even imagine why anyone would want to go back what with the power and ease of use of the latest version not to mention the advances in computers. Anyway I will look thru my stuff for a manual as I just might have one still laying around. For me 3.1 was my favorite. Good Luck with finding a manual.
I looked around to see what I could actually still find.
I have:
1. Manual and disks for Sequencer Plus mk I - the enemy where for me it all started - copyright 1987
2. My disks for Cakewalk release 1.1D dated 1987.
3. My disk for Cakewalk 2.0 Beta A (dated 1988)
4. Manual for Cakewalk 2.0 - dated Nov. '88
5. A manual and disks for Cakewalk Professional dated 1988 and the disks for Cakewalk Professional / MQX v2.0. I'm not certain anymore if the manual was from v1.0 as we beta tested 2.0 or if the release manual just didn't have 2.0 on it prominently. I think we probably beta tested v2.0 with the original versions manual.
6. A 5 1/4" Beta disk labeled "Beta F 1.2 Meg 9/26/89 Confidential"
7. A letter signed by Greg dated Oct. 11th. 1989 thanking me for being a beta tester of Cakewalk 3.0
8. A letter accompanying the production releases of 3.0 signed by Greg dated Nov 15th, 1989 thanking me for beta testing the 3.0 releases of Cakewalk .
9. The manual pages for Cakewalk Professional release 3.0 along with the disks for v3.0.
10. My 5 1/4" Floppy with Cakewalk 3.0 (released version)
So it looks like I got in on Cakewalk 1.1D, and then beta tested v2.0 and v3.0.
I wonder if Cakewalk has a little library museum sort of thing with all these versions in it. Company history and all that.
I think I may have just won the pack-rat award.
