I love old pics. Really neat was #3, from Steer and Wagon Trains to Semi-trailers and Harley-Davidsons. Most importantly #23-the surveying and construction of the American Gibson Gutiar company. LOL Thanks for sharing

Those really make ones imagination fly, don't they. Also, those open landscapes remind me of one particular thing propably never shown in any western films, and something that would allow interesting views and twists of plots: The high (Buffalo?)grass plains. The plains with grass so high that you had to stand on the back of your horse to see over it. I've seen only paintings about it. With modern technology those views could be shown to people again after 150 years.

I liked the pictures of the Indian chiefs. White men came in a tried to "civilize" them.... In their culture, men hunted, fished, smoked in the lodges, and danced, the women did all the rest of the work, and we thought we could improve on that?

I thought the picture of the camp with the musicians and the dear with the bell on their neck was really cool. I didn't know you could domesticate dear like that. Sorry about the comments on the message board Mike. I was so in to the pictures I didn't even know there were comments.

The Native American photos invoke deep emotions for me. Emotions of sadness, anger and emberassment. These are my basic feelings of much of the U.S. history in general.

Those are great, Bub! Thanks! (and I, like Mike, started to read the comments too....sounded like a bad day around here.) Anyway, I'm going to send the link to my dad...a real life cowboy, who, fortunately, came along too late to be involved with Indians. I can't get over the stack of wood at the wood mill...and the huge machines at the wood mill in De Smet (I think it was.) Anyway, thanks!
