Old song with a new life .....
Hello everyone, This is a tune I wrote/posted back in 2010. I was hammered on my vocals not having any grit/gravel to sing the blues. Now, a local Blues Band who has a singer with extra grit/gravel would like to add this song to the set list. Soon, I hope to have a copy up for you to hear a real Blues singer/band. Feel free to listen to my original take and remember any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. "KISSING TAIL" http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=856789&songID=9089441 THANKS Kev

Can blue men sing the whites? On your horns? Where the all come in and swell together? It sounds good, but I would take a baritone sax underneath it? Like this; I'm gettin tired, I'm tired of kissing tail. Swell-----> Da Dump Where the Da Dump is the bari sax? And it comes from lower to higher? This is the typical part that you hear with the horn section? That and I would put a fat Hammond in there too.
All you need is love, just ask the Beatles? ----------

This is a fine blues song. The arrangement is right on, and I've heard a lot of singers sing the blues less convincingly. Good luck with this.

Nice bass tone! Perfect for this tune. Really a cool tone on your vocal. I like it! I can imagine a vocal by someone else but I don't think it's necessary! Love the swells and harmonies, buddy! I think I remember this tune. Really nice blues tune too.

Kev, Sounds pretty good to me. Drums, bass and guitar are great. Horn arrangement sounds good. You could probably add a Bari or Tenor Sax to the bottom end. Sounds like you have a synth swell at the end, that could be Bari or Tenor as well. I think the Vox are good as is. Great post... Regards

Really liked the clean guitar solo and the chord vamping towards the ending Kev! Nice tone on the bass. I dunno..yer vox sounds fine to me, but a pack of cigs and a 5th of JD might be what you're lookin for?? Good song IMO!

I remember this when it was less jazzy ... its grown a lot since! The vintage feel plus trumps and chorus pomp takes this up an enviable notch. Awesome on all levels!!!!!!!!!!

This is some great blues! I think a B3 would compliment this very well. The sax I'm not so sure of though. If the subject were a sexy babe who teases then yes, a sax would be the perfect addition. Very well done!

Hi Kev, On my system, the rhythm guitar is too soft. Snare is up a little hot. Guitar gets better at the end. May I suggest that on your mix, after getting everyting just the way you want, try turning your speakers down really low and see if you can still hear all the instruments. I might find that the guitar needs to come up, lead vocal down, and the bass could have a little more in the middle to bring it out at lower volumes. Worth a try. Then bring up the whole mix and play back normal to loud and see what you get. You might be pleasantly surprised! Rimshot

Hey JAMES . . . THANKS for those big props. Made a great end to my loooong week. THANKS AGAIN! Hello RIMSHOT . . . WOW, great ears for detail. I mixed this in my basement 2 years ago. You should see the pics on my web page and see what I had as a studio. Today I have a little better space to work in. I try to do all my final mixes with the speakers at a lower volume. But, this song I did not, so you are on the money my friend. THANK YOU very much for the listen and the suggestions to make this a better mix. It's greatly appreciated. THANKS AGAIN GENTS! Kev

This is the Blues!!!! I love this older style --- it is just chock full of rhythm and that's the Blues. Good stuff and no you don't need anyone else on vocals -- you sound great. This might sound silly but I love the rhythm guitar --- it really pushes the song along. Nice stuff!!! Freddy J

Nice deep solid back beat on this. Guitar tone is very appropriate, but could come up a little. Vocals sound pretty good, maybe choke up on the mic for a little proximity effect, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this. Horns sound good. Cool tue! There is sure is a lot of talent around here. Daryl
