Older plugins dissapeared but... they are still available in older projects

He guys. Plugins like HF Exciter, Alias factor, modfilter etc. just dissapeared from the plugins list and plugin manager. When I open a project that contains those plugins they load normally and the are usable. I read that sometimes directx plugins (are those DirectX?) become unregistered and you have to register them again http://izotope.com/suppor...ug-in_is_not_appearing but regsrv just doeasn't work on them. I rescanned VST folders - no effect. Maybe I disabled some plugin view or smth? Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Well, I looked up HF Exciter and Alias Factor, and it looks like they are both DXi-type plugins.

I do not use any DXi plugs, so the above is all I really have for you - sorry it is not more.

I did find this in the help documentation:

For DirectX Plug-ins

Normally, no additional setup is required for DirectX plug-ins. DirectX plug-ins install globally into Windows and are seen by any DirectX host program, such as SONAR. If your new DirectX plug-in is not appearing in SONAR, first check to make sure it is installed properly. If you are confident it is installed properly, then the plug-in may be excluded from your plug-in lists. To check:
1.  Go to Utilities > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager to open Cakewalk Plug-in Manager.

2.  Click Show Excluded in the lower left corner.

3.  In the Plug-in Categories list, select DirectX Audio Effects (DX) (for audio effects) or DirectX Instruments (DXi) (for soft synths).

4.  Verify if the plug-in appears in the Registered Plug-ins list. If so, the plug-in is excluded.

5.  To enable any excluded plug-in, select the plug-in in the Registered Plug-ins list, then click Enable Plug-in.

Hope this helps,

Bob Bone

Hey, thx for the support, but I checked those options. Plugins are not visible there, even in excluded list. I even tried to register it with this command http://www.vistax64.com/s...ins-windows-vista.html (works in windows 7, it's just one of the links about cvista) and nothing... Error 193. I thought that reinstalling Sonar will register it again, but I guess DirectX or Sonar said to DirectX to unregister it... Hmmm, what now. Are there any replacement dll's or solution from Cakewalk in this matter? Or maybe someone had this? Actualy HF exciter is too good to not to use it.

Yup, that was its fault. Ok, so what you need to do is :

1. Run CMD as an administrator
2. enter : regsvr32 filename.dll "path_to_file"  f.e "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins" (The easiest way is to change directory to this one containing our dll's
3. Do it with all missing plugs. Yup it works!

Btw. I wonder what deregistered those DX permanently? Mayobe some windows update with "new better DirectX windows 7 update"?

Thank you guy and I hope this post will help someone sometime.

Regards

Don't know what caused it, never had it happen to me. Glad you are back running though.

I guess it would be some windows 7 update which unregistered those. Greets.
