Older song - a bit of spit and polish
https://soundcloud.com/sigmadelta/nightwalkers-in-new-york-dusty-vinyl-remix I kept the original there for comparison. So what's different you wonder? * Added NLS Channel plug-ins and Buss plug-in. * Removed CLA Mixdown as I felt it never suited the project in this instance. * Tweaked the AR Vinyl settings to be more arbitrary. * Added shelf eq to drum stem to give it more air. * Reduced low level hiss from final mix which was created artificially by some of the plug-ins. * Also improved the perceived harmonics and volume by nip and tucking aspects meaning the final volume is more pronounced. I feel like I'm updating a bug report here.....but it's all edumacational for me. Anyway enjoy if you can, must or will.

Hey, that's a creative mix -- I could certainly hear this in a movie scene. Living here in the city it sounds to me like it could be the theme for a lot of night and day walkers here. I'd wager that you got just what you were after soundwise and thematically in this piece. !! -- Allan

This could work very well as a soundtrack. Whenever I hear this genre (is there a genre name?) I always wonder if the artist knows beforehand what he wants in the piece or is it more that one element inspires another element. Very creative stuff. Kind of surprised to find some structure since it seemed to follow a 4/4 beat for the most part.

To be frankly honest, it's mainly all of the original elements. I did however strip much of the reverb and delay left in the original sample content, beef up the drum track, accentuate the snare hit on the 4th beat to give it more punch. Used Schepp 73 EQ on the main vocal track to add grain. Moog Filter on the other vocal part and some envelope. Tape Delay and pitch drift, wow and flutter and compression using some emulation. I tried to add more layers by constantly morphing what was happening in the background. The original never had many effects or it seems much processing, so I gave my PC a bit of a workout. And my brain it seems. By the way, strange pad thing was Hollywood Strings. Reversed, tape modulation (Boards of Canada type setting) and voila. The vinyl effects were added too, some noise and grain, just completely transformed really. For comparison, here is the original artists mix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDZZekWu8u8 So whilst I used much of the original content, I sort of put my own spin on it.

Aaron, this is one of the best instrumentals I've heard lately. The song is well arranged with plenty of texture and ear candy to make me smile. Someone should write a film for this cause it would take on a life of its own. A+

Yup, agreed, soundtrack. But also on its own, it's a laid-back psycho madness thing. It's why I wouldn't want to walk the streets late at night NYC. But if I were to, that's the soundtrack. Boards of Canada, yummy! -Tom

I listen to Bored of Canada now and again. Because they are musicians as well as engineers. It isn't always obvious how they do stuff. However I like a challenge.

That is a nicely gritty vibe. Mental bits and FX coming in and out but still locked in to that dark city foundation.

In prison, I hear that if someone spits in your presence, they're wishing you luck. Good luck!

Different, agreed it does soundtrack material, thanks for sharing your moment.
