Omnishpere Reinstallation Doesn't Recognize STEAM Folder

About 5 months ago, I purchased Spectrasonics Omnisphere and installed it to my PC.  Everything worked no problem, and I just installed all the updates and everything right away up to 1.14C.

Now, since re-installing Windows 7, I have been unable to get Omnisphere to recognize the STEAM Folder.  I get the following error:

---------------------------
Caution
---------------------------
STEAM Folder not found. Would you like to locate it?
---------------------------
OK   Cancel
---------------------------

I then click on the STEAM folder which I installed to my secondary hard disk and it gives me this:

---------------------------
Notification
---------------------------
Link succesfully created. Restart your host to begin using this STEAM folder.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I then get this message upon restarting Sonar:

---------------------------
Notice
---------------------------
Cannot open Multi D:\Program Files (x86)\Spectrasonics\Omnisphere\STEAM\Omnisphere/Defaults/default.mlt_omn
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

As it seems that the problem may exist with the installation, I have tried re-installing Omnisphere, and even testing with all of the older, unupdated versions.  Still, there is no success.  Does anyone know how to fix the problem with default.mlt_omn?  I would really like to get Omnisphere back up and working.

Thanks.

Man I know the pain. I'll tell you what I did if you promise not to get mad at me...Ok then..

You have two "program" files one as program the other program (x86). Depending on how you installed no telling what happened. I installed exactly as instructed and it didn't work...3 times!!

locate all the file folders and note where they are. Now this is where they tell you Don't Do This...but I did. Move the Spectrasonics folder to "ProgramData" folder. It is probably right after your Program(x86) folder.

Inside the Spectrasonics folder you should have folders plug-ins and inside it should be a 64 bit folder and the .dll
The next folder in the Spectrasonics folder should be the SAGE Converter folder and the STEAM folder.

If you have Trilian or Stylus the .dll's should be in the plug-in folder with Omnisphere.

Now when you open Sonar go to Tools>Plug-in Manager and scan. If it doesn't find it click on Options and "Add" and locate the the plug-in folder, OK and then re-scan.

If relocating these files left copies...get rid of them. (for Omnisphere)

Ya I played around with that short-cut pointing to the .dll for two long.
My guess are your folders are not in the ProgramData folder.

I am not a PC guru. Take this writing as only what worked for me. Please write down everything you do so you can backtrack. Just don't delete everything and start over. No reason to do that..just get the folders in the right place with the .dll or .dll's in the right folder and all will be good.

    Hope this helps,
    Michael
PS, took me awhile to type this so sorry if somebody has already covered this.
PSS, another thing I did was open two Window Exployer windows to help me keep track of what the heck I was doing.

You're probably better off contacting Spectrasonics about this, but I suspect it's because you went from 32 to 64bit.  You probably have to do a fresh install is my guess.

    Hi, Michael.

Thanks to you, I was able to solve this issue.

Simply by taking a look at the spectrasonics folder in the hidden "Program Data" folder and modifying the shortcut properties, I was able to fix the issue.  The shortcut referred to an invalid directory.  So by recreating the shortcut manually (right-click, create shortcut, pasting), I was able to resolve the issue.

    Thanks for the help.
