On the subject of art...

Here's one I put together.  This guy was in the audience watching my friend's band.  I decided to make the picture look as the world probably did to him that night.  I call it "The Fan."

I've always wanted to start a thread that's just photo's folks have taken, never did it though.

Mike has posted some great pictures he's taken in a few threads. I got lucky with a few over the years, but it was pure dumb luck. I'll post some tomorrow, falling asleep now, gotta go.

He was a bit scary.  He also had no clue that I took his picture; he was completely oblivious to the flash.

That's a cool picture! I love watching people in an audience. Sometimes I've seen some really silly ones when performing on stage my self, that made me laugh so hard I had trouble doing what I was up there to do.

Great pic - it has waves of energy!

    Hi,

For the fun of it ... a few years ago I acted in a play ... and had to show off for pictures ...

Hey Strummy ... try that glissando on your metal! I bet that would sound really cool!

The background, btw, is from a Kit Watkins picture from one of his concerts with Camel. Used with/by permission.

    Hi,

Taking pictures for me, was an extension of directing for the stage or film. Nowadays, I can not afford a camera, and writing is easier, but it's still about catching "that moment" for me.

That might not seem ... phto verite, or cinema verite ... but it really is the same thing inside ... and am I catching it or not, or am I letting it go by me! Directing on stage, or film, is so much about this, and NOT your (OR MINE!) ideas ... and I think that many times I try to bring this here ... to all you musicians and friends, sometimes with not so fun or good results.

During the 90's I had a chance to do a lot of bands and have more fun with them, and my trusty Canon AE1 did the job. Sadly, I have not replaced it, as I have not gotten comfortable with a nice electronic camera yet, but it is in the cards ... if I don't spring for a video camera instead, since my ability is more towards the full visual than it is towards a single portrait subject. I tend to dislike the conventional thing and have done two weddings, and there is nothing more boring!

All of my pictures, with the exception of one (Vina's) are not posed. They are "there". My own, was done by another photographer, for an assignment he had for fun with his students. I've lost 40 pounds since that picture! ... but it fit the "theme" really good!
