One Day Off - New Original Song (ver2)
Well it's been over a year since I posted a song. Already! That went too fast. The good news for me is I have a backlog. I hope you enjoy this song. Let me know it you do or if you don't. Thanks! John https://soundcloud.com/jmasno5/one-day-off

I like it too, for the singing, the guitar tones, the mix being pretty clean, just a nice happy song, and I can relate to the concept, except how about 1 week or . . . Rhythmically, though, your drums are going for a swing feel while the other elements are seeming to play more in a straight four - it can be done, but it's tricky and I hear some spots where I'm not sure it works. I'd say the last half of the song is much tighter and seems to work well. In the first half, you might look at where your bass g and your kick drum are hitting, I think they miss each other on a few downbeats. Or am I hearing problems that aren't there? I really liked the outtro and the big chorusy thing, really cool and very professional sounding. cheers, -Tom

Yep, kick is slightly late in spots. Really good song, love the style and the way your instrumentation complements the melody. I'd like to hear a little more "sparkle" in the guitars that play on the downbeat (like The Beatles "Getting Better"). Bass is right there, vocals are all in the pocket, really well-produced track. Great job! Regards, Dan

Thank you so much Allan, Tom and Dan! I appreciate the input, expect it, and depend on it. I went back in and lined up a couple of things. I noticed one note of the kick (in a certain pattern) was way off and was repeated about five times or so throughout. Some were in crucial parts like right before the verses. How did I miss that? Not paying attention I guess. The new version is the same link. It's a couple beats longer too.

Nice one, John! Great vibe happening.... The arrangement and mix together work really well for the song IMO. And the song itself is really good - solid, everything in its place. And while everything sounds really clean and well recorded, I particularly liked those background vocals and harmonies... some of the best I've heard.

Thanks Steve! The mix and arrangement came together over time. It was some time before I was able to get my wife into the studio to sing her parts. While waiting, I had time on my hands to play with the arrangement and instrumentation. Had she done her parts a month earlier, the song would have not been as good.
