One MIDI track to control several soft synths? (One to Many)

Is it possible to have a single MIDI track outputting, say, on MIDI channel 1, sending the same data to several soft synths (each having its own track folder) all at once, in a "one to many" mode?

I need to compare the output of different synths to the same MIDI data (using the SOLO function) and I would like to do so without having to copy/clone the source MIDI data to all the synths tracks.

Thanks for any help/info!

    no, sorry. a MIDI-track can just be assigned to one instrument at a time.. :/

    (sending MIDI-notes to separate channels and instruments is possible with drum maps and in the matrix view, but (as I'm sure you're also aware of) this isn't what you want to do)

    Instead of using Solo buttons, how about just selecting the soft synth you want to check from the Output pull-down list on that one MIDI track?

    I think the only way to do this is:

    1) Load in as many synths as you want

    2) Assign the MIDI track to each one at a time and freeze the instrument track

    3) Solo each frozen track as you listen to it

    Hm.. I just realized; If you want to be able to change midi information in one MIDI-clip and have these changes made for all instruments at once, this is actually something that can be done..

    You can copy the midi clip and then use paste special onto the other tracks. In the paste special-window, select the option "linked clip".

    By doing this all the MIDI-clips will be linked and all the changes you make in one MIDI-clip will be applied to the other tracks/clips as well.

    if you're running something like tobias erichsen's loopmidi program you can set up one midi track to output to one of the virtual midi ports then make the virtual midi port an input to the midi track that's going to the soft synth.  so, you would still have a midi track per vst but the input control would be virtual midi.  you can do all kinds of neat stuff having a setup like that! :D

    Not sure I understand the question, but is this an option:

    If that does not do it, then you can use a virtual midi cable (loopback plug, splitter) and treat the Sonar midi track as though it is controlling an external synth, and the softsynth running in Sonar as though it is receiving midi from an external controller all inside the computer.

    You can indeed, I use that very setup often.
