One for the bass players - how do you do this?

You laugh but I know one fellow who played slide guitar with a shotglass using that... uh... technique and another fellow who would do snare drum "solos"... again using that technique (ouch).

Yes... strange people indeed... and yes... people actually paid to see that. lol

Aside from that, +1 for Murderface.

There seems to be some triplet action going on.

Think about it.

Considering the creator/writer of the show is an extreme music/metal nerd (who writes and performs most of the tunage) there are actually tons of tongue in cheek music jokes scattered throughout scenes like that. I may be reading too much into some of the scenes but that particular one did make me gutlaugh because of the triplets (thwap bounce bounce) the first time I saw it.

My old bandmates (complete metal dorks) used to prattle on about it and I didn't get it but after watching the first few seasons I realized it is indeed awesome... although a little disturbing at times.

Ah yes, you're correct there Beep - Brendan Small is the guy you're thinking about.

And I must admit, I am a big Dethklok fan

We don't get Metalocalypse on TV over here, but so far I have acquired the DVD set of Series 1, and also the three 'Dethalbum' CDs he's released.

I love the tongue-in-cheek approach they take to the TV show, and to the music, and although it's a parody of the genre, it's still excellent, and just as importantly - valid.

This superb video documentary (it's the bonus DVD disc in the deluxe version of Dethalbum III) provides a look behind the scenes at the recording process, including some interesting input from the guys who play bass and drums:

Wow - everything about that was brilliant!  And they even have Mike Keneally?  Nice!

Heck, if I could stand Cookie Monster vocals, I'd get some of their albums for sure.  The harmonizing guitars sound like Iron Maiden on steroids - lol.

I also would love to play as "bad" as Brendan.

I'm a big Keneally fan.

I first saw him when Zappa did his last tour over here in the UK @ Birmingham NEC, and he's stayed with various incarnations of Zappa bands ever since. Great player.

Hi,

Get the groupies ready ... that guy has bump!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
