It's called the "Small World Effect" or, as I refer to it, the "Don't burn any bridges with people because you never know when you'll meet them again" syndrome.
I had a similar funny thing happen in my 20's where I was at a party two hours away from home and meet a guy who knew my date. His name was Frank and he was there by chance with his wife.
The next week, I'm at work and I go into the computer room (a large room that requires you to open a combination lock to enter) and... there's Frank. Turns out he repairs large hard drive packs (this was in the late 80's).
That Friday night I'm at my favorite nightclub talking with the shot girl (a friend of my then girl friend) and this somewhat familiar looking girl comes up and starts flirting. About two minutes later I realize who it is when Frank shows up and says "Hey, you remember my wife, right?" The whole bizarre meeting thing is becoming funny.
Over the weekend I go to a friend's house where a band is practicing. Guess who's there? Yep. Frank. Turns out his brother is in the band (and my friend's friend). Getting a bit weird now!
The last straw was when I came home from work and there, KICKING BACK IN MY FLIPPIN' BEDROOM WITH MY ROOMMATE, is Frank! WTH???!! Now, first I should mention that I had a HUGE 18' x 28' bedroom where most of it was converted into a living room / club (where I could test out lighting ideas) and my one roommate was allowed to come in while I was at work and use the bar. Turns out, Frank and my roommate had known each other their entire lives - their parents were both in the same hospital at that exact same time giving birth so they kind of grew up together. As for me, I was more than a little wigged out with all the coincidences!
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!
